Topic: Sega Mega Drive & Sega Mega Drive 32X Set up Help.

Hello all,
I don't know if this is the best place to ask for some help on my Sega Mega Drive.

Any way I have only just got a Sega Mega Drive Model 1
Model Number [1601-05]

It's the old first models.

Anyway I just got my self a Mega Drive 32X off eBay that works great but the problem I am having is the cable that goes from the Sega Mega Drive AV out in to the 32X AV In. The Port on the back off the Sega Mega Drive is very big compared to the AV in port on the 32x. Using the cable that comes with the 32X. And also I am using a AV Yellow, Red, White cable that fits in the back off the Mega Drive that works fine with the TV. But it will not fit into the 32x AV out as it's to big. I'm just wondering what is best to do with my problem.

When I try 32X games it works but will not show a picture then and then and very much messed up. Like men in fighting games will not be showing up. But you can hear the sound off the game.

I would upload a picture off my Mega Drive and 32X but I'm not to sure if the forum will let me.

Depends what version you have, is it PAL or NTSC?

You also need a second lead. If your TV supports RGB (which most European countries do), then I recommend a Scart RGB Model 2. You will get the best picture possible: https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/sega/32x/sega-mega-drive-...

EDIT:
Both leads I recommended will work on any region Mega Drive. If you go with the Scart RGB optional, it will basically support NTSC and PAL signals (so if you have a modded PAL Sega Mega Drive 2 and set it to NTSC 60Hz, it will display in color).

Yes the 32X only came with one cable that's small. It will fit the 32X AV IN. But will not fit the Mega Drive AV out as it's to big.

So really the guy that sold me the 32X didn't put both ends off the cable in the box? No wonder I was confused.

I am from the UK so it will probably be PAL.

I just looked under the system now and it don't say anything about if it's PAL.
So I'm not too sure about it. But probably will be PAL more then likely.

What do you recommend about the TV AV cable. How do I use that with my 32X. As it's to big for the 32X AV out.
I have to use AV as the TV don't have a Scart Socket.
