Has anybody tried this before? I was lurking around the Starmen Forums and saw this:

On the Left is the original version, On the Right is the HQ Filter. Awesome ain't it?

Back when I used emulators I used to play the games like that.

Same here
But don't let the others know that you used a emulator to play a game that Nintendo still havn't put on VC

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

That would explain those screenshots of Seiken Densetsu 3 and Illusion of Gaia on the MobyGames website.
Off-Topic: the SNES games look beautiful on my widescreen HDTV (though Super Castlevania IV looked better on my old one).

That was before virtual console existed.

Yeah but it messes with the text and makes most games unplayable. Or at least it does for me anyways.

Yeah that's emulation resampling of the visuals. They got like hq4x, eagle, and various others that'll turn pixels into circles, soften up squares, etc. They all look terrible in nearly every last game if you want stuff to look right. Earthbound is one of the very rare few that tends to look a bit nicer with it on, but it's due to that very basic drawing style unique to the title that seems to make the blocks go away and seem more like it was done with markers or pens of some sort like a drawing. I never used the things, tested them out of curiosity and they just bugged me to no end.
