Isn't the Song of Storms like required to get to the Bottom of the Well? Which you go to while advancing through the story? Wouldn't exactly call it a sidequest.
Yes, I believe you had to go down there to get the Magic Lens. While I suppose it's technically possible to beat the game without it (unless you need to be able to see Bongo Bongo to be able to hit it, incredible luck aside?), it will make the game MUCH more frustrating.

But don't you need to go to the bottom of the well to get Din's Fire, which you need to get into the Shadow Temple, as even flame arrows won't work on those... err... things you have to burn(I forgot what they were called )
