Topic: I wish Disney would see the light and give us some VC love.

During the Snes/Genesis days it seemed like Disney was on such a huge role with making excellent videogames. All those movie based games like Aladdin and the Lion king. Magical quest starring Mickey as well as Mickey Mania all had such graphical detail and quality. They really put a big effort into making the games almost as perfect as the cartoons that inspired them. Even before that there were the Duck tales games on Nes and they were pretty good too. It's a real shame that these classic favorites will likely never make it to VC because of licensing issues.

I liked Mickey's Magical Quest for Snes. I played that when I was a kid.

Yeah, that's the rub. Disney itself didn't make those games at all, they were licensed out (mostly to Capcom, but some were Virgin Games)! If these games had been from Disney Interactive (now Buena Vista Games), they'd stand a much better chance of showing up on VC. TMNT proved that you CAN pen licensing deals for VC, but most folks still can't be bothered for some reason.

I'd bet money the folk that could make this happen at Disney aren't even aware these old games exist, much less that people want them. It would probably take an effort from someone at Capcom. Something like a Capcom Disney Classics Collection seems like it would be a good way to do it!

Castle of Illusion would be great.

What was that Mickey Mouse MegaDrive game, where the first level was in black and white. Themed after Steamboat Mickey? That was a pretty good game alright...

@Will: Mickey Mania. I got that one with the Genesis I bought on eBay a few years ago. Great game!

Well, those games were made by Capcom, Virgin Games, and Wayforward.

Homebrew licensed games. You'll never see an official re-release with all the legal red-tape.

I've been picking them up for $2.99-$5.99 at my local used store for my Genesis and NES. That's how I got around the issue...come to think of it, I think I got Alladin for $0.99.

Me too, but since my Genesis gets WAY hot for some reason (power supply issue)... I've decided to buy the original licenses when I can and go for roms (since I legally can).

Yeah! I think Mickey's Magical Quest & Ducktales can be in the VC!

That's why I've been a happy camper with my GBA version of Aladdin; since I didn't have the game after my SNES broke! Trust me; the GBA version of Aladdin is just as good... and anyone thinking of wanting it for the VC needs to just get the GBA version right away!

Disney Interactive is making some killer games at the moment with PURE and the new game coming out SPLIT SECOND. Yeah its not VC but they are making Incredible games at the moment.

@Captain Jack Sparrow: I've played both the GBA Aladdin and the Genesis Aladdin, and the latter is DEFINITELY better. I've never really understood why there were two totally different Aladdin games released in the first place, though (since the GBA game is based on the SNES version). Nintendo's came from Capcom, and SEGA's from Virgin. Weird.

@Stuffgamer: The GBA version is the SNES version? I have to get it then! I have the SNES version, and love it. I might end up getting Magical Quest for the GBA also.
