Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3.

That is all you need.

Bacon, RPG elements and cute girls, what more could you want?

And I already have them. In Multiple forms. And I kind of like to play games that aren't beat 'em ups. Hence why didn't list them in the first post where I asked for the specific genres I was interested in. The first post that nobody read since evidently nobody gives a damn about what the thread is even about before they start spouting out useless garbage.)=<

Seriously, only all of about 5 people so far have even bothered to follow the criteria I set out, and to those people I thank you. You've been very helpful to me so far. But to the rest of you, and any future posters in this thread, I implore you: please, read the first post! You people just keep saying the same games over and over again, and most of them are the games that I specifically asked NOT to mention, because I ALREADY HAVE THEM! Also, many people are recommending games for the VC, which would be absolutely pointless, since, with the cost of shipping, it would be far cheaper for me to get the VC version instead of purchasing the physical cart.

I was kind of expecting this to be at least somewhat quick and easy, but I see I was hoping for too much. At least that "recap" post I made helped a little. I'll be sure to check out that Out of this World game post #44 mentioned. I heard it was good, but I can't remember if the Sega Genesis version was good, too.

I just realized Ranger-X is a Run 'n' Gun, so I should be good on those now.

I also noticed someone recommend Street Fighter II and Samurai Shodown somewhere on the second page, so I'll probably go with them, if only too have some preferred fighters of two different types on my preferred console.

Also, a friend recommended to me The Lost Vikings as a good Side-Scrolling adventure, and I vaguely recall Starboy91 recommending it to me and others several times before, so I'll probably go with that over Out of this World, since I think Flashback would be enough in regards to that style of play for now.

So, to recap once again:

  • Top-Down Adventure: Shadowrun, Crusader of Centy
  • Side-Scrolling Adventures: Flashback, The Lost Vikings
  • Fighting Game: Street Fighter II, Samurai Shodown
  • Turn-Based RPG: Traysia, still looking for more recommendations
  • Run & Gun: Contra Hard Corps
  • Licensed game: Desert Demolition starring Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote, still looking for one more reco to keep consistant
  • Games in a genre I didn't think of: Zero Tolerance, Marko

Still looking for another turn-based RPG, and perhaps another Licensed game if anyone has any suggestions. Right now I'm leaning towards Hyperstone Heist, if the rumors that Konami no longer has the TMNT License is true.

Like I said before, TMNT: Tournament Fighters is actually a fighting game (one of the genres you're looking for) instead of just another beat-'em-up, and it's pretty good.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

It is a fighting game, yes, but it looks bloody boring from the vids I watched, no offense. I might still pick it up if I can find it cheap, though. I got it on my "Maybe" list. It'll certainly be easier to find that Hyperstone Heist, that's for sure...

Just found the best Licensed game I could get for the Genny (Battletech), and I found out that there really are only 5 good traditional Turn-based RPGs for the Genesis except maybe that Beggar Prince if I could find it. So we. are. done here. Thank you, and good night.

Lost Vikings isn't an adventure game, it's a puzzle platformer.

As to the Disney games discussion, I haven't really heard much on the SNES Beauty & the Beast (by Hudson) by the reviews of Sunsoft's two Genesis games I've seen weren't positive (I hear Belle's was a dull adventure game and Beast's was a frustrating platformer). No idea on Hudson's NES game that they decided to release in PAL only, either.

The best platform game other then Sonic (in my opinion) is Taz on Mars (or a title close to that)....

I never really got to complete it though.

Robocop vs Terminator is an excellent run & gun game, and the megadrive game is even better than the SNES version, a good platform game would be Chuck Rock belly bounce dinosaurs to death.

Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game is a pretty good fighting game.

Other then Phantasy Star, is there really any RPGs on the Mega Drive?

Would like to help you, but I really don't know of any RPGs on the system (only Shining Force but you already stated that one)...they were more dominant on the SNES and Playstation.

I could recommend you an RPG on the Playstation if you wish (Not FInal Fantasy either).

If interested: Wild Arms...although with the graphics it had I bet it could have been on the Mega Drive.

There are actually about 20 or so RPGs on the Sega Genesis, but most were action-RPGs. The only other good traditional RPG for the Genesis was Traysia...and by that, I mean its the only good one besides Shining in the Darkness, since the Phatasy Star games all sucked, IMO.

Wow...such a small library for a great console...yeah I don't think I like the way Shining Force is either. There's always Vermillion.....never mind.

What about that Alicia Dragoon? I've heard about it but never got to play it....is that an action RPG?

Its a side-scrolling action game with RPG-ish elements in the form of upgrades that can be found throughout each level. Its a good game, just not really an RPG. The Genny was more of an action gamer's console.

Yeah, that's true. Seems that consoles always have some bare bones with at least one genre...the Neo Geo and TurboGraphix have a few though, since they were focused on FIghters/Shooters respectively...I mean I like the odd Shooter/Fighter, but sometimes there can be such thing as "too much"!

I once looked up a game for the MD that has a Grim Reaper like character at the front and it had a strange title....it was made by SEGA though...I wish I knew what it was called.

*Nice backloggery collection.
