It depends on the system

If I want a NES, SNES, N64 or Genesis game, Then I would want the cart only.
But if I want a Neo-Geo, 32X, PSX, GCN, GBA or DS game, Then I would want it in the box.

Main Final Fantasy & Quest/Shinobi Team fan...but I do like many SEGA games and a few Nintendo games.

I can be cute if I want to be, but I choose not to...as it's not my style.

Well it becomes harder and harder to find boxes the older the system gets. My N64 collection consists of all boxes/manuals and part of the reason I haven't finished my collection of RARE games. I still need Mickey's Speedway, Donkey Kong 64 and Killer Instinct with box and manual though I'm sure I could find them if I looked. I sold my SNES collection which I didn't really like collecting for despite liking a lot of the games, it's just too popular of a system and most of my favorite games are pricey. My NES is almost all carts only.

Disk based games and hard cases really changed things up and made it much more likely for the cases to be saved over the years. My Gamecube collection has most of the manuals which I made sure of though some games I didn't find with them.
