I know it might be a long shot but does anyone know of any arcades in london ? Or anywhere that even has a few machines ?
Lived here for a few years and am in the mood lately for some king of fighters or metal slug or street fighter or even more retro ! There must be something !

try looking up Namco funscape and Trocadero.
I've been to the trocadero, that place is really good for all ages, and has plenty of new and retro games. I'm still yet to go to Funland though.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with Namco Funscape when I went there recently. They have Time Crisis, Outrun and all the usual stuff, but nothing really stood out. Even though they have Pac-Man plastered all over the place as the mascot, there is only one Pac-Man game in there, and its some weird multiplayer thing. No original, which was a disappointment. The only fighting game in the entire place was Tekken 6, which from what I saw I expect is just a console in a shell and not an actual machine. And no Mario Kart, which Namco themselves helped develop the arcade versions. I don't know much about arcade gaming to be honest, but I wasn't impressed.

I haven't headed into the trocadero for a while, I might do when I've got a bit of spare cash. Although, MCM and mario kart 8 are heading this way at the end of May, so it might be a while.
