Topic: PS3 Motion Controller = Wii Ports and Lost Winds?

pushsquare.com released an article today stating exactly this. The motion controller (wich Im not overly a fan of any motion controllers) coming out for PS3 has the primarily same functions of the WiiMote so it looks as if some WiiWare titles and ports of Wii Games such as Zak and Wiki (my fav Wii game) could end up looking at releases on PS3. I did enjoy Lost Winds and Ill take some Lost Winds Sequels on my PS3 any day. Killzone or CoD with pointer aiming Im actually quite looking foreward to if it ends up working.

The PS3 is a lot harder to code for, and the userbase is still the lowest, I doubt most developers would do ports of Wii games... specially since PS3's biggest userbase, the fanboys, have been saying how much they hate Wii games ever since Wii's launch... wouldn't be a very wise move to port there...

Plus, the wand thing is horrible!, it's bigger than the Wiimote, and most importantly is a peripheral, an extra accesory, that reduces the target userbase even more... I highly doubt there will be PSN titles using it, other than a couple (see the Xbox LIVE Vision? only 2 XBLA games use it... and MotionPlus, no WiiWare games use it yet...)

I would much rather look forward into what can be done with Natal... doing a carbon copy of the Wiimote, like Sony's doing is not a very good idea, 3 years late, and with an accesory is dumb, segmenting your own small marketshare is dumb...

I can't see how this same argument isn't being used to point out how little of a chance Natal has at success... It, too, is a peripheral, and will be simiarly not-adopted.

I think it's worth noting that the PS3 wand is more functional than Wiimote+WMP, will probably be tons cheaper since Sony cares about its customers, and can play...PS3 games.

I also think it's worth noting that all PS3 users I know also own a Wii and love its games. I run into the WII-SUX-ALL-GAYMS-R-DUMM thing a lot more with Xboxers...although this could also lower the adoption rate of the PS3 wand since we already have that gameplay style covered...

I do agree most everyone I know that has a PS3 is a Nintendo fan as well. There are a lot of PS3/Nintendo fans on here and I think it would be smart for Sony to push for ports of Wii games. Not to mention the developers of Lost Winds have already started rumoring on it coming to PSN as a possibility. I dont do many periphials and Nintendo is the worlds worst on not supporting them. EyeToy on the PS3 has been supported fairly well over two consoles now so maybe it will work out. Natal is a cool thing but its not a whole lot different than EyeToy.

I think that LostWinds might actually do better on the PS3. It did well on Wii, but that's still only around 6,670 sales - certainly under 10,000. I suspect a greater fraction of PS3 owners than Wii owners have their consoles online.

Definitely PS3 owners would appreciate a game like LW more than Wii owners do.

@clicketyclick.... yeah I saw those number and was completely dumbfounded by it. How did it only sell 6700 copies? That is pathetic in my opinion and the game was really fun, short but really fun. I hope they made some money on it.

Sony is apparently adding motion control to a Lot of EA games now as well. I wont be using it but hey at least its getting the support

Project Natal is looking really sharp after doin some digging i found that Microsoft has Burnout Paradise already running very well without a controller wich is pretty neat. Gimmicky but neat. I like a controller in my personal opinion (without motion controls) but it has the potential of being really great.

Lost Winds was good. I have not beaten it yet as I got kind of bored. But the price was cheaper than going to a theater and watching a movie. And I know in the long run I will get more value. I hope Lost Winds stays loyal on Wii though. It matches the systems ideals quite nicely. Its a game that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.

I really have nothing against Sony I just like the idea of each system having its own exclusive titles. Thats what makes particular systems stick out in my book.

What would be in the best interest of the PS3 would be to get games that make use of the HD and their "wiimote" and then the wii would end up getting crappy ports of those games. I think wii-ps3 ports will happen first, just to start fleshing out a library, but if there's any success at all, the porting will be the other way around.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

You guys are correct that the PS3 will in fact be getting Wii ports first off. Thing is.... so few people are online on the Wii and especially the amount of people downloading games is abysmal so great games NOT bein exclusive to Wii would be a LOT better for the developers.

@Devil Hunter.... you should really go for finishing it. The end of the games is very very fun and will have you craving more Lost Winds immediately.

PS3 motion control won't be anything new (Sony, welcome in 2006) and Natal? Pfff, come on: I wan't to see a movie so I will swing with my left arm, and after I've watched the movie for about 30 minutes, I will walk to the kitchen to get some popcorn, but when I stay up from the couch the movie will go fast-forward and I'll be spoiled with the ending. Great.

@invmat..... wich is why i prefer a controller. Until they come out with an electode that allows me to drive with just my brain waves im really not to interested in motion control.
