So I’ve been thinking for a whole about this, and I thought, “what if we got a Warriors game for the Splatoon series?” It could be set during the Great Turf War, and after all, FE and LoZ already got two of them…!
I think Splatoon single-player puzzle-platformer could be fun. The campaign mode already does some of this, but I mean a full-on Mario Odyssey sized take on it.

It would be cool, but Splatoon 3 is still "in service". I can't see them releasing anything separate while the current game is running.
It's not like Mario or Zelda where the series is on hiatus for years until the new iteration comes out. There is no off season - and when they stop updating Splatoon, they make Animal Crossing. It's the same team as far as I know.
But a rhythm game would be cool, I think an anime series could work between games. Give us some side stories, throwbacks, new music videos while we wait for Splatoon 4.
I've always imagined in an alternative universe that had the 3DS's lifespan been a tad longer or if Splatoon 2 released later: we would have got a 2D side-scrolling platformer style game (for 3DS) akin to what they did with Pikmin and Chibi-Robo.
Not that I'd necessarily want it, although it could be quite a cool spin-off if done right.
I've been desperately wanting a spinoff ever since I played Splatoon 3 in a game trial. I love everything about the game except the whole central online team fighting aspect. 😝 Note that I feel similarly about the monster hunter series but they do have a spinoff.
Adventure platformer Splatoon would be neat. Or an action rpg or puzzle game. A rogue-lite which might in fact be what the new DLC is and if so I really wish it had just been a spinoff game.
Honestly it's such a fun colorful world with unique combat it could fit in pretty much any action genre or puzzle.
It’s a little shocking that there haven’t been Splatoon spin-offs yet. You’d think Nintendo would do more for a young IP that’s sold as well as it has. The only question is who would develop them outside of the main team.
Tableturf Battle could’ve easily been its own little game. I agree that Squid Beatz would be a good choice for a rhythm spin-off. It still feels strange to not have that mode in Splatoon anymore. Otherwise, I think a platformer, JRPG or strategy game could work.
