Probably. Although there will still be a niche fanbase that'll go crazy for VR games.

It seems cool and certain games will be really fun to play like Alien Isolation, but I'm not going to be super stoked for it. I can see it fizzling it out too soon and certain games that would support it not supporting it in the end. Plus, I've learned not to get excited for peripherals done by Sony. I mean, the Move got talked up a lot, but they barely made any decent games for it.(The best games that used Move worked perfectly without it, go figure).

But yeah, these things will cost too much for it be a huge thing like the media is making it out to be.

VR for SteamOS and consoles, okay, I can see the potential... maybe they'll kick it off where the Virtual Boy failed. However, I still don't want a goggle box strapped to my head, especially when I can sit in comfort on my sofa and watch it on a big ass TV screen.

Speaking of SteamOS, there's 14 new Steam Boxes that were just revealed from 3rd party manufacturers, hitting the market this fall.

Almost all of them are over $600. Most of them have lower specs than PS4/XBO. None of them have exclusive games. No optical disc drive. An OS that will be incompatible with many games. Ships with a controller with a trackpad (because you know how much everyone loves the trackpad on their laptop). They're basically the same overpriced pre-built PCs that Dell and Acer have been selling for a decade, but with a new logo and no Windows license. Only real benefit is the small form factor.

The console-killer has been delayed, it would seem.

That's what I was thinking when I was looking at the specs, most of them are very low to mid range, not the console killer I was expecting to be honest. The other down side is, you don't seem to have the ability to upgrade parts on a Steam Machine unless I'm mistaken. At least with a pre-built computer you can still take out old parts and fit new parts as you please.

The Steam Machines don't seem viable for major PC users who can upgrade their machines when they see fit and it doesn't look like the console killer either because (as we all know) PC doesn't get every game out there and it can take months before it ever reaches the PC (GTA5, I'm looking at you). I don't see where the whole thing sits really.
