I might be the only person who doesn't care much for themes or folders. My big asks are more systems added to nso or the return of true vc. That's just me though.
They could at the very least have more color options than just black and white. The thing is, if they had just called it "dark mode or light mode" I don't think people would have complained much. But they labelled them themes and coming off of the 3DS which has tons of honestly really cool themes, we all kind of expected them on Switch.
I've heard people saying it might slow down the system. But I don't see how a static imagine and different color icons would be such a drain.
On a related topic, why did they stop adding new user icons? When was the last time we got any? Mario Odyssey? I had expected we'd get more with every major 1st party release. So where's the Luigi's mansion icons? Fire Emblem? Pokemon? Etc...?
But I agree with @link3710 that more than these minor details, folders would be nice. And I still want support for BlueTooth headphones. I have not seen an explanation for why that's not supported. We can use 3rd party controllers that use BlueTooth, so why not headphones? Why do I need a 3rd party dongle stealing the charging port?
Also, I'd really like the ability to place game icons where I want them and to adjust the sizes, just like we could on 3DS and Wii U...
@Heavyarms55 The last icons were in ver. 8.0 with Yoshi's Crafted World and Splatoon 2 getting icons. Since they decided to make them require OS updates to add (unfortunately), we should be seeing the next batch soonish presumably, since ver. 10 is theoretically coming out in the next few months.
As for bluetooth... The only thing I can think of is that currently, the Switch is already hitting the bluetooth connection limit, which is why you can't have 8 players connect dual joy-cons at once. So they don't want people adding in headphones and then being upset when they can't figure out why their controller won't connect now. But... honestly they should just put in a text prompt and allow it.
@link3710 Those both seem like simple things they could fix/change. How hard would it be to simply put a message in the system that there is a limit to the number of wireless devices that can be connected at one time? If I remember right, they locked the icons behind system updates because the old system was vulnerable to hacking and people were putting outright porn in... But there is nothing stopping Nintendo from adding more whenever they wish and very little reason they can't up release a minor update every now an then adding more when big name games release.
Then again, I know nothing about programming, so maybe there are reasons these things can't be done, and I sound like a fool assuming it would be simple.
