Don’t think there’s a thread yet for this. I think this should be coming out this year. I’m looking forward to Sonic 3 native port

Also, does anyone know if this will include Knuckles lock-on in Sonic 2? That’s my preferred way to play Sonic 2..

Buying Sonic 1 again? I'm down, it's one of my favorite and I have it on just about everything, so might as well keep it up, lol.

Seriously, I want to play this, I want to see how these classics will be in this collection. The mobile version of Sonic 1 is great, and can't help but wonder if these will be similar to that version. I have Sega Ages Sonic 1, but that was more or less like the 3DS version with Sonic Mania's drop dash added in. I am happy to see a new release of Sonic CD coming since that is my favorite Sonic classic.

I wish we had more info aside from this announcement video.

@Sunsy Sonic 1 is my favorite too. I’m sure I’ll buy it 10 more times, lol

@NinChocolate Same, I have Sonic 1 on GameCube, GBA (despite the port's technical problems, still liked having Sonic 1 on the go back when there weren't other portable options), Wii, DS, 3DS, the Steam version on PC, Sega Ages, and the mobile version. I'm hoping the Origins version is similar to that, the mobile port is excellent.

I already have Sonic 1 & 2 as part of the Sega Genesis Classics collection, which kind of makes it difficult for me to be excited about this. Besides, who knows how chopped and screwed the music will be for Sonic 3 in this collection? I don't pretend to know the relationship between Michael Jackson's estate and Sega of today.

I'd like to point out that these games are not emulation of the originals, but ports. In the trailer, around the 1 minute mark is Hidden Palace Zone from Sonic 2's mobile port. Given Headcannon is developing it and they had their hand in the mobile versions, I have a good feeling these are the mobile versions made for PC and console.

Actual Sonic 2 mobile spoiler:
Remember the pit of doom in Mystic cave, the inescapable one with spikes? Well, falling down that in the mobile version of Sonic 2 leads you to Hidden Palace Zone, a new level using the Beta version's graphics. I'm guessing it's the same thing here.

Please, do not look at this as "another classic Sonic re-release," if this based off those mobile versions Headcannon helped developed alongside Christian Whitehead, that's a major plus. If you have a phone, you could try these versions right now.

@Magician I'd like to point out that the original Windows 95 release of Sonic 3 had different tracks of music. It was revealed awhile back that the Windows 95 music was in a beta version of the game before Michael Jackson got involved. I'm hoping they do the same with the music as they did with Sonic CD's re-release, give an option of music to choose from. Personally, I have nostalgia for the Windows 95 soundtrack.

@Magician concretely, Brad Buxer’s team (MJ’s writers) which is credited in Sonic 3. Brad Buxer owns chords used in the game and has used the same in his own music as well. So at the very least there’s royalties paid out there because of that ownership

@Sunsy That's right, these are new remasters/ports, not emulated roms. Sonic CD (Xbox) lets you choose the soundtrack so that would be nice in Sonic Origins for Sonic CD and Sonic 3. The Windows version song of Carnival Night Zone is better than the Mega Drive song, in my opinion. Also, for four more pounds it's worth pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition and getting everything.

@Banjo- @Sunsy Good details. I’m just in it for the classic mode (very hopefully with the drop dash, love that drop dash). @KayFiOS has reported they spotted the drop dash in the trailer, so that’s good news

NinChocolate

Banjo-

@NinChocolate The fact that Headcannon developed this means we'll likely get those little bonuses like the extra levels and the optional abilities. Also, the sound volume menu is something I want to turn up the music and down the effects. The original games have a very loud ring sound and don't let players adjust anything.

@Banjo- after M2 included the drop dash in their Sonic 1 release I can’t go back to not having it. So I’ll be fired up if it’s in all the games here. And of course as it’s not emulation the sound will be accurate too

@NinChocolate Sonic Mania included three abilities, 3&K, CD and Mania. I hope it's the same now because the same people are involved but, to be honest, my favourite ability is 3&K but I will test all of them again 👍🏻.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is legitimately one of my favorite and most beloved video games of all time. I LOVED that game as a kid. Played it more than any other video game in my life. Used to dream about Sonic. Draw Sonic (notebook with 120+ drawings from the Sonic 2/3/S&K/CD era), go to my friend's house every weekend and play Sonic.

I remember me and Nathan looking through a magazine and seeing Sonic CD. I wanted that add-on system so badly. But I never got one. I had an obsession with Metal Sonic. He was my favorite character. I've beaten all the Sonic games multiple times (except CD).

I've been waiting so freaking long for these games to come back. Switch release is the dream. And they just added Spinball on the Genesis Online? Already beat the first boss. All those memories of this game's frustration and joy have come rushing back.

I need this Sonic Origins for my Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and to finally play CD. I have it on Steam but... eh. I only ever really play Switch.

@JaxonH I’m right there with needing some Sonic 3 on Switch. It’s one of those games that’s a comfort to have on every device you got. Some people feel that way about Super Mario World, but for me it’s sonic. Did you like the 3DS Classics version of Sonic 1/2?

From the way it was advertised, it seems like Tails and Knuckles will be playable on all Sonic games in this collection. Even Sonic 1. I think it's a fair assumption given that it's a remake, they probably tweaked the games a bit.

I'm excited for this only to see the ending of Sonic 2. I got teary eyed as a kid seeing that ending. The music was just perfect. <3

I really enjoyed the Sega 3D Classics. Wish they released more.
