...I'll be honest, I thought this was just a port of a free-to-play mobile game...I'm glad I decided to look at a review. Although it has rogue elements in it (not a huge rogue game fan, there's only one out there that I really love), I love that it gives you the option to add more lives or have infinite lives. Something I wished more rogue games would do to ease up on difficulty, for me it sometimes kills my mood to keep playing. lol
Anyways, Shovel Knight puzzle game, looks interesting, decided to grab it for under $10, since I had $10 in coins. lol
Anybody else grabbing this?

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Will definitely be grabbing this tonight. I'm a big fan of Shovel Knight, so I'd probably get any game Yacht Club Games comes out with, but this looks like a really creative and fresh take on the puzzle genre so I'm very excited to try it. I certainly don't have anything like it on the Switch, so it'll stand out from the rest of my library I'm sure.
I've said it before, Yacht Club Games gave me such an impossibly good deal just for the one time I bought Shovel Knight (an all time great game even before 5 years of updates) near launch that I feel obligated to buy all their games ahead of basically any other indie games. Assuming they actually interest me at all (which they are in fact, 2 for 2 so far).
So obviously I'm getting this soon enough. But I also played it at PAX once, and it was pretty cool.
I did like the game but I'm not remotely into the roguelike direction. Just feels like a weird, random choice that didn't add much to the experience. Made way more sense when Shovel Knight Dig did it.
Also I appreciate that there's seemingly some genuine secrets to this game beyond just beating it but it feels like the type of thing I'd be unlikely to play enough to ever find.
The actual gameplay's quite good though. Might get around to playing it again, might not.
I could've sworn I read you were stuck with rogue-like mode if you chose it at the start (at least for a save file (...its been long enough that I don't even remember if this game has multiple save files)).
Also I'm not sure how much it matters now that I've beaten it.
@Ironcore Open up Netflix on your phone and there's a section called games, it's mostly rubbish but one of them is Shovel Knight.
Tbh I'm surprised Netflix hasn't closed down their game division yet as no one gets Netflix for the games and they are having some trouble at the moment. Personally I hate playing games on my phone and rather have a controller and buttons.
On iOS you might have an easier time looking up Netflix on the AppStore and checking their developer profile, since the iOS Netflix app doesn’t have an easy way to see all the games.
There’s other interesting stuff there, like exploding kittens, oxenfree and world of goo.

They've in fact, done the opposite and have bought some developers to add to this service.
I hope they don't end up like Double Helix, where they went from years of bad games to suddenly awesome reboots of Killer Instinct and Strider to complete irrelevance under Amazon.
Is it okay if I post this here? I couldn't find a forum for the original SK on switch.
I recently beat the first Shovel Knight and liked it, but then I started Specter of Torment and LOVE it. I've cleared about three levels, but I'm wondering if I should put that playthrough on hold, save the best for last and play Plague and King Knights first.
