More than worth the $20.

Solid gameplay (both single and multi), fun progression system, lots of customization and playstyle options, various skill challenges. It’s definitely got a Call if Duty feel to it, meant as a compliment.

Oh, and micro-transactions have been removed.

If you’re into military FPS, this one’s a no-brainer.

Yeah they could have optimized a little more. Still very mobileish but I will support in hopes of them giving us more and better in the future.

Copy and pasted form the military fps forum post:

Anyone have a chance to play modern combat yet? I bought it but have not had time to check it out, planning on diving in tonight.

I heard from spawnwave and rgt85 that it has frame rate issues. Also I am curious about online in general. From the videos I saw matches were being started for team battles as 2 on 1 rather than just waiting to find an even number of people. Also curious about multiplayer modes. In the mobile gameplay video I saw there were objective modes like capture the flag. But on switch I have only seen people choose team battle or free for all.

Why spend $20 when it's free-to-play elsewhere? Here's a recount of my experience with this game on PC. Movement feels floaty but serviceable, melee kills are incredibly risky for locking you into the killing animation that takes too long, a flawed respawn system that mostly fails to recognize that your spawn point is already overrun with enemies everywhere, pop-up advertisements are constantly bombarding you at every turn asking you to buy something, unbalanced as hell with an imperfect player balancing system (it tries to reassign players if it judges the the losing team to be underpowered and vice versa, but most of the time this ends up being too little too late by the end of the match, although I will give credit that if you keep playing with the same players the game will do a better job of balancing teams) and it doesn't help that the game has a pay-to-win model that gives those who pay an unfair advantage with stupidly overpowered equipment. The lag is very apparent to the point where you run to safety behind cover but then you die because someone already killed you before you ran for cover, otherwise the game rarely drops in framerate and registers shots as smoothly as one would expect most of the time (again I'm talking about the PC version I don't know how the Switch version performs).

The game is somewhat generous when it comes to giving Credits (game's currency), but you're gonna have to devote to the game on a daily basis if you want to earn enough Credits without having to shell out any real money but there's even items only exclusive to those who pay. Characters have multiple classes to specialize and gain skills exclusive to that class by assigning SP points that are usually earned by leveling up. Weapons are customizable with attachments (via number of kills with said weapon / random rewards) and upgrades (earned randomly through Weapon Loot Boxes / purchased through other means of currency). Armor parts can be purchased in bundles with real money or randomly earned through Armor Loot Boxes and are also customizable with Cores that provide various perks that are extremely crucial to giving players advantages / level the playing field.

Overall the game is a decent knock off, first-person shooter that takes worst aspects of a free-to-play game with an egregious economy and serious balancing issues.

@Frosty_09 paid $20 because I wanted this kind of game in my switch library and currently there are no ads or microtransactions in the switch version of the game, though they could easily add them at any time.

It is very unfortunate that there is no cross play. Just played a match and it was a 2-1 so not really the most exciting online experience. Hopefully more people will pick this up so we can at least consistently fill out both teams.

@PuppyToucher I don't like micro transactions, that's why I never spent a single cent on the PC version ever since I played it back in 2016, and why spending $20 on a Switch port that not only essentially plays the same but can also be played for free on other systems just doesn't sound right to me. The player base is still active on PC with plenty of competitive players since the last time I checked and most of the time you will have a full lobby every match.

So I spent the 20 and I think it is worth it. I do feel like the developers are being silent on the game. I hope it sells well and turn a profit. I think they should be more outspoken because there is nothing else like this on the switch. With that being said I feel the game could have been a better port. This is basically a straight mobile port. Hopefully they come out soon and say our money will be put to good use.

Apparently the switch version is based on the android version which was capped at 30fps. Switch runs at 40fps. The iPhone X runs game at 60fps and looks as good or better than switch version. Interesting.

The multiplayer is a blast as well. Finally got to put in some time. 😁

I just puked in my mouth a little... "free-to-play" is industry slang for micro-transaction hell.

@Heavyarms55 Yes, the ftp versions are filled with micro-transactions and I don't like them either, but does the removal of micro-transactions justify the $20 price tag on the Switch version? Not really. As I said before, I've been playing this game for a while now and never had to spend anything, so I think it's a better value to play this game for free even with all its flaws than to spend $20.

You’ve been playing the PC version of this game. You have no idea how it plays on the Switch with microtransactions removed. I’ve played the microtransaction version. This is a completely different game.

In essence, you keep offering your opinion on something you know NOTHING about.

Full single player campaign, robust multiplayer, tons of classes and weapons (many of which you don’t have access to due to the micro transaction nature of the PC game), different game modes, and I could go on.

Not worth $20? Get real, dude.

Until you play the Switch version, please kindly stop pretending you have any idea what you’re talking about. You don’t have a clue.

Fair enough, I don't have the full details on the Switch version based only on second-hand information.

Please specify which weapons and classes that are not accessible without using real money, does the Switch version add anything new to the single player campaign, and what are these different game modes that you're referring to (are there any game modes that are exclusive to the Switch)?

I’m thinking of buying this game but would like to know something first from someone that’s played it on Switch.

Can you change the x and y axis sensitivity like in most other FPS games? I always find the default settings are never sensitive enough for me.

Can someone please answer me this:
does the game require online subscription initially to sign in, even when only playing campaign? I read somewhere it does, but can't find anything else on this.
I have no subscription and am not planning to get one, but at a 50-ish % sale the single player seems fun enough to get it, IF it's not locked obviously. Given the nature of the game, with progression in both single- and multiplayer linked, I can understand that you need to sign up, and therefore need an online subscription, but I'd like to know if its campaign is at all playable without that.
Thanks in advance.

This game has me so upset. I havent been able to sign on for over a week now and its pathetic. I wrote them an email and they're response was we are aware of the online issue so just play offline.... WTF ? The game was truley made and meant to be played online not offline. Still no update to fix this so called known issue but they dont give a flying turd about us or the game. They made theyre money with this cash grab and not even trying to make a solution for this issue. Shame on Lameloft
