@statnut buy shovel knight for the wii u. Unless you travel a lot and need the portability I think having it on the wii u with off tv play will give you the better experience. The game looks great on the big screen, the controls are very responsive on the gamepad, and I think you have a bit more viewing range in the game. Colin Moriarty, a reviewer at ign, recommended it on the wii u as well. Anyways buy shovel knight. It is a great game and I am actually about to double dip and get it on the 3ds as well for my second play through.

I still don't understand how the ps4 has a purchasing intent of 30% even after e3. I didn't think they had a good show and the system, in my opinion, still has no must own games. I understand wanting a wii u because there are lots of great games out now and coming out in the near future, and I even understand people getting an xb1 for the halo master chief collection, but why does the ps4 still have more people interested?

Like others have said before, I don't see amiibos really helping the wii u and 3ds until there is a dedicated game for them instead of them being add-ons to current games. The figures themselves may sell well, but without a dedicated game I don't think there will be a huge hardware boost.

I think Nintendo may have missed the mark with these amiibos. I think at least part of the reason skylanders and Disney infinite sell so well is because they have games centered around the figures. To me it seems like Nintendo is only tacking on these amiibo to existing games rather than making a game whose core function centers around the figures and doesn't work without at least a figure starter pack. If the game is good that would force people to buy more and more amiibo and then the extra features for games like smash and mario kart would just be an extra bonus instead of the main reason.

PuppyToucher commented on Review: Shovel Knight (Wii U eShop):

Does this support off tv play? Also I keep seeing people around the internet talk about how the 3ds version doesn't have input lag but if this game has off tv play wouldn't that mean playing just on the gamepad has no input lag as well. Either way I will probs get it for the wii u just because I like playing on my big screen and if it does have off tv play then that is a even bigger plus.

If Nintendo life can make these videos why don't they make video reviews? Not trying to be a troll, I am actually curious. Not that I mind reading a review, but sometimes it is nice to be watching gameplay while hearing a review.

I personally haven't played this game but if this bundle is $129.99 and comes to the U.S. I might get it. My friend has been wanting a 2ds to play animal crossing and this might be a good opportunity to get her one with a free game that she would also like included.

@CrabGats I also have a feeling that Nintendo isn't going to do NFC correctly, but I am hoping they blow me away at E3. The honest truth is if Nintendo really wanted to save they Wii U they would find a way to put a core Pokemon game on the console. I really don't see why they don't push Gamefreak in that direction. All of their other big franchises are on both the portable and the console except for Pokemon.

They could easily do a Red and Blue reboot set some years in the future and add some features and it would sell amazingly. Especially if they mention that we could explore multiple regions. In my opinion Pokemon would be better on the console because it has more power so you could add in more npc's and have way more side quests and multiplayer features.

I love the gamepad but in all honesty if MarioKart 8 doesn't move units I can see a gamepadless bundle for Smash Bros so that Nintendo can make it's sales target for this fiscal year. If they don't do it with Smash and they ride this FY out and don't sell 3.6 million I can definitely see them pulling the plug on the gamepad this time next year unless Zelda U greatly utilizes it.

Hopefully NFC is going to be the killer app the Wii U and the gamepad need, because I don't see MarioKart or Smash making too great of a splash because you can get similar experiences on a handheld like the 2ds for $99 at a lot stores. Nintendo's handheld and not the other consoles is its biggest competition because it has very similar games for much less and for most people the handheld is all they need to get their Nintendo fix.

I hope Nintendo in its upcoming games make online a priority like they are doing for Mario Kart 8 and Smash, because Japan is the only place where local gaming is more of a focus than online gaming and if the sales of the Wii U and the PS4 are any indication Japan is not too interested in consoles.

That leaves the West. I think if Starfox, F-Zero, Metroid, and Pokemon were released for the Wii U with steller single player campaigns, and fully fleshed out online modes then those games would do a lot to move hardware. I know most people are going to say those games are not system sellers, but they are to core gamers, a crowd which Nintendo hasn't tapped into, and you need to get more core gamers on board before you are going to be able to get the causals back. And with online features I think they could sell a surprising amount, especially if all those games plus Zelda U come out next year.

@jjmesa16 Do you honestly believe pokemon rumble u even counts? It wasn't even a full game. Nintendo cannot expect to make tons of money off of something when they don't even put out a full game. If they actually put out a retail game on the same level as skylanders then it would be a hit, especially if they partnered with a big retailer and advertised it a lot.

Nintendo needs to make a pokemon game similar to skylanders for the wii u, while they are at it they should also make a mushroom kindom skylanders type game. Both of those would sell really well and would make parents want to get their kids wii u's. I also think making an f-zero, starfox, and metroid game would help more than people think if those games included not only an amazing single player campaign, but also well thought out and feature packed multiplayer modes. The problem is nintendo doesnt embrace online features like they should and this is why they dont sell as well in the west anymore. Western countries are all about online multiplayer and nintendo needs to get with the times and start embracing that more with the wii u if they hope to keep up.

I think if Nintendo can show a Zelda, F-Zero, Starfox, Metroid, and Pokemon game for the Wii U this E3 then it doesn't matter if they have a live presentation or not. Heck even any two of those games ought to be enough to get the hype train going!
