A lot of people say they love the dungeons in LA, but I have to admit I'm not a huge fan. I would take Link to the Past or Ocarina or Link Between Worlds any day. In my opinion the early dungeons in this game (1-4) are really easy, basically step-by-step affairs, and then a couple of the later ones can be a bit frustrating, not in terms of actual complexity but moreso what you're looking for - 7th dungeon I really hate.
For me, LA dungeons would be middle of the pack, above Windwaker, original, Twilight, but below Ocarina and Past and Minish.
I'm not counting BotW because that doesn't have dungeons.
Sorry, just had to get that chip off my shoulder lol (it'll always be there, who am I kidding)
Love the game, though I do admit I'm a bit surprised at the slowdown. I tend to never notice stuff like that, but I seem to catch it every time it happens in this game. Not really a big deal, but I am a tad surprised Nintendo weren't able to iron those out before launch.
Also the game is very difficult on Hero mode, which I love, but also really suck at.
Ah, I'm a dungeon person when it comes to Zelda. The dungeons were always what I remembered the most and what drew me to the games. When I think of Ocarina, I think of the Forest Temple and those ghost and portraits. When I think of Link to the Past I think of the Tower of Hera. I think of unlocking the big items like the hookshot. I think of the cool bosses and mechanics. I really miss them. I'm in the minority and I know my voice is small and quickly diminishing when it comes to the direction of the franchise. It's all good. Everything changes. I'm just not a big fan of the changes they chose for BotW, but who knows what the future holds. (Hopefully not gathering 18,000 skunk pelts to craft a new rupee bag lol)
I don't think I entirely agree that the 2D and 3D dungeons are all that different, though. You can still "grade" dungeons on puzzle-solving, dungeon-specific gimmicks, number of floors, number of separate horizontal wings in certain cases that are accessed at different points in the overworld, bosses and sub bosses, other notable enemies, etc. I really think the only difference between 2D and 3D is, well, the dimensions lol The 3D dungeons can do a few things the 2D ones can't (and vice versa), but ultimately a dungeon is a dungeon and boils down to its puzzle-solving mechanics and use of key item(s).
From the framed photo of a baby chomp on top of a chest of drawers, to distorted air around the candle flames in bedrooms, the little details in this game make me want to squirm with joy. That's without even gushing about the incredible, fisher price-esque art style and bright, soft-focus feel.
Yes, it feels a little linear for a Zelda game (so far, although I haven't beaten it, so who knows), but what the hell, it's pure magic. It looks gorgeous, it's incredibly fun to play, and it's oozing with charm at every turn. Nintendo really went all out with this one, and you can tell the developers put their heart and soul into it. Their love of the franchise is evident throughout, and I haven't even gone further than Tail Cave yet. I absolutely cannot wait for my next playthrough.
Since I had never played the original, I originally debated playing it first before buying the Switch remake, and boy am I glad I didn't. Going into this with virgin eyes and no idea of what's next is an unbelievably magical experience. I almost feel like a kid again. Rant over.
What do you guys think about it so far? I'm interested to know what those of you who already played the original Gameboy version think. How has your experience been so far? Has the game matched, or even exceeded your expectations?
...How does that seashell finder thing work? It just beeps and vibrates at random for me, and I dig every single spot and try everything and can never find anything.
Also, those freakin' obnoxious flying mushroom things that throw bombs at you, how do you kill them? They've always been infuriating. lol

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Those flying mushroom things are the worst! Probably my most hated enemies in Zelda aside from those zappy ball things that make your sword not work for a while. You know like in the first game.

I didn't know there was a Seashell Finder until I just read it here lol. I've been getting them as I go just based off memory of the original, so I have almost all the Shells, but no finder. I assume the finder is in the hut as I haven't gone in it yet, since I assumed there was no reason until I had them all (like the original).
