Setting up my son switch this morning added minecraft £20 kirby £50 mario kart £50 and lego incredibles £50 so only £170 total. Trying to buy more stuff from store and i got a error code saying i cant spend any more money. I am guessing theres a cap ? And if so what is the cap and how long does it last ? Would ideally like to buy at least another game plus a pack of minecraft coins today if possible.

@MrEleven1181 Don't know the answer to the question, but it would only take a minute to setup a separate account and buy using that one, which would presumably work.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@MrEleven1181 : Have you set it up as an adult or a child account? Because child accounts may be restricted from making purchases over a certain amount per month (presumably to prevent children from recklessly making extravagant purchases using their parents' credit card).

While it may be a little too close to Christmas in order to contact Nintendo directly either today or tomorrow, the worst case scenario is that the cap will be reset come the 1st of January.

Setting up a new account is a bad idea and will only complicate matters as purchases will be divided among separate accounts.

Its my old account i setup a few years ago when I bought a 2ds so if it asked for my dob it will show i am pushing 40, i did have a google search some people saying they think it resets after 24hours but it was just a guess i think, no definite answer

Great gifts for your son as he likes platformers such as Kirby, I'd highly recommend the likes of Adventure Pals, Splasher, and Save Me, Mr. Tako!

@MrEleven1181 : As I said, the worst case scenario is that you can make the final purchases in the new year. It's not as if your son will be short of games to play until then.

That’s a terrible idea. There’s a myriad of reasons not to split your games between two separate accounts.

I believe there's a limit on how much money you can add to your account per month(?).

Just wait a few days.

Try visiting the "add funds" screen to check the specifics.

No, it's not. It solves the problem and never need be an issue. Aren't most of us rocking multiple accounts on our Switches anyway?

I'd personally rather have everything in a single account...

I do have a second account for my backup 2DS, but I've never used it on my switch or other system.

I think any monthly purchase must be < or = £200. The only way to bypass this is by creating another account.

No. I only use separate accounts for demos and out of region games.

I keep all games on my main account. I would never dare to split my game purchases unless it’s a game that’s not sold in my region.

Idk about any limits. If there was a limit you think I would’ve hit it by now. When I first switched over to digital for the big releases I bought a ton of games digitally. Never had an issue. So maybe it’s a regional thing that’s not present in NA eShop, or its a parental lock restriction thing
