Topic: ID card On Back Of Switch?

I've been debating whether or not to do this with a clear see through nintendo switch case putting my initials & phone number on the back of my switch if it ever gets lost (I'm already pretty careful with my stuff just like going the extra mile sometimes on precaution). I already have my initials & phone number, & puzzle piece on a mini charm already attached to my switch lite in glitter & glow in the dark beads I already made (diy). Should I do it the other way with a Id card on the back of the switch lite instead? I used to do something similar to this in elementary school with having my initials on my lunch box, backpack, folders, etc for school. Just wondering if I should do that again with the way the world is today... 🤔

@Barbiegurl777 put your email address or a new email address not your normal address, that would be better. I think nearly everyone knows what a email address is, or heard of it.đź‘Ť

So basically: I'm autistic if lost call etc. Initials, phone number, & email

I never felt the need to do this with my GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS year's ago. The GBC was my first handheld back in 2000 or 2001. I feel like when out in public I have to be so much more alert to my surroundings as opposed to back then because of the way the world is now... 🤦‍♀️

GBA was your first console, it was my second handheld after GB. This place ( ireland ) is not great either, but things have improved a little bit in the last few years, lm not autistic, but I know whst you mean about things not been great, could you get someone to put an email address on the switch for you.

Crossing a line a bit there @Anti-Matter, not sure that jab was entirely necessary. As someone who's not on the spectrum I can't really speak to what its like and even if I was, people are people. Not everyone has the same experiences with it. Also I do have a relative who is so I'm not entirely ignorant

Generally one of the main things about people on the spectrum? Routines. If @Barbiegurl777 has had their name put on important items since they were a kid? That's possibly become somewhat of a routine. It's a comfortable thing to do. And if it's a comfortable thing to do and it's not hurting anyone? More power to you. I say go for it

@Barbiegurl777 If it was me I'd get some high quality stickers printed out. Something that has like your name & phone number on it. Stick it on the back. Will look clean

Not trying to use it as an excuse was diagnosed at 19 literally year's ago. My parents were trying to get me diagnosed from preschool / kindergarten & up in the 90's. My parents noticed certain things even before I started school then starting school the preschool & kindergarten teacher's both said something. Every time I went to a Psychologist to try & figure out my "learning disability" there answer was I look & act mostly normal & also I would still catch up with my peer's but at a slower pace (no real answer). They were half right. Never did catch up with my peer's in math & science to get technical. Other subjects I was so advanced in it was unreal. The only reason I mentioned putting the autism on is because I've seen others do it & thought maybe a good idea. 🤷‍♀️

@Skywake

Your definitely right about the routines lol. Had those long before diagnosed. Ironically I had to put my initials on my lunchbox more so because of daycare & my mom... I made the mistake of making my lunch the night before & when I went to school. I was in a rush to catch the school bus so grabbed my lunch box out of the fridge real quick thought it seemed lighter but figured would figure it out at lunch time. Low & behold I open my lunch box (zippered lunchbox) I personally packed my lunch for a while in elementary school. Opened it the PBJ I packed not there crumbs in a ziplock bag, empty banana peel, empty chip bag(I had plain lays chips in a ziplock bag) & a empty huggie barrel drink... The girl sitting across from me said wow you must be a fast eater... I never ate breakfast back then not by choice & no lunch that day. Pardon my French but I was pissed when I asked my mom she admitted to eating my lunch & said she thought it was for her. How on earth a full grown woman mistakes a pink barbie lunchbox for themselves I'll never understand then let alone now. After that I set my alarm clock an hour early so I had enough time to pack my lunch in the morning & then put my initials on my lunchbox... 🤦‍♀️ The kids at school never bothered to mess with my stuff so much as they liked picking on me particularly. Elementary was nightmarish. I like the sticker idea~ 👍

@Tasuki

I'm just imitating what I've seen other people do as for putting autism on there belongings. Personally I don't mind actually admitting I have autism anymore. I was embarrassed by it for a long time because of the way people acted towards me more so in person. When your told "learning disability" for a long time then finally get a real name for the problem. It's not to bad I hate how alot of people associate it with severe or lower functioning autism because people have talked down to me in the past thinking I was a total dunce then I speak in full sentences then they think I'm a genius... I'm more in the middle... 🤦‍♀️ Other people openly admit there disability but when I do it's a crutch? No. Just flat out being honest... 🤦‍♀️ kids openly admit it & no one says jack squat to them but an adult (millennial) it's a crutch? I've heard this several times. I'm sorry but I just don't get it. The old expression if it's good for the goose it's good for the gander.

@Barbiegurl777 I think you misunderstood me, I wasn't saying you use it as a crutch, I was saying do what makes you feel safe. You don't need to explaing why you want to do it. Didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable there.

One thing is to write down your Switch S/N and insure that Nintendo account has the S/N so if it gets lost you have a way to report that to Nintendo if there is any way to track it. But I wouldn't use your full name initials and email but make a email just for this purpose not your everyday email that you use just in case. Beyond all this just know where your Switch is when you leave your Home or safe area when you go out into the public. Anything beyond that is kinda out of one's control but being safe where you game your Switch will insure it's always with you.

@Barbiegurl777 Having your name (or whatever you like to be called) and phone number attached to your Switch case should be OK. I'm not sure about the ID card, though... if that has any super personal info, then you probably want to just stick with your name and phone number. Just trying to keep you safe. Making a new email address for the sake of recovering your Switch isn't a bad idea, either. Same with the high quality stickers with your name and number for your Switch console itself. You could probably find good custom stickers on Etsy.

I don’t see why you can’t. You sound self sufficient so it isn’t like others will see it (to gather your info) unless you leave the switch somewhere…which is the purpose of the sticker (just put your contact info). It’s a multi hundred dollar device…even more if your case has games. I would say if your case is large enough, to hide an airtag in it. That’s what I do with mine. If you are high functioning I would only divulge your condition on medication/toiletry bag if I were you. For a game system someone might think you won’t notice or be capable of perusing recovery if they know; might give a person incentive to keep rather than return your items.

Not sure if this helps but I have a travel coat (they aren’t cheap but function as wearable luggage) that I keep mine in when traveling. Since the material of the coat is light I keep it on until I get to my hotel. Switch is always with me.

I personally think putting a label with your name address and phone number is a good idea but also it could also be used to harm you if you know what I mean.
