“Not gonna happen!” -Shulk
Seriously speaking, I really hope Monolith does something with X again whether it’s a port/sequel on Switch or something else. While it would be nice it doesn’t have to be connected to the Klaus trilogy

@LilyGoMEOW That would cause the game to flop because physical games are still a large proportion of Switch sales. They trialled digital first, physical later with Metroid Prime Remastered and Pikmin 1+2 but they chose to announce TTYD in advance instead suggesting that the trial hurt overall sales because there wasn't a physical version at launch.

@Grumblevolcano Well then it could be a 2-cart release. I know there's been two or three third party games that have done this, perhaps a definitive edition that has all the OG content on cart 1 and then a large game expansion on cart 2 giving a proper ending to the game?

@EaglyBird it’s not really a nod to X. The date of the launch is all wrong and so is the backstory for the launch. While it uses the same name as the project from X, the date is moreso a reference to Xenogears, which had the same thing with arks for humanity traversing the stars.

I’m also just kind of hoping they don’t touch X, given it is the only Xenoblade game I thoroughly do not enjoy/can’t get into, and would rather them make XC4 or a new IP.

@Grumblevolcano @EaglyBird @LilyGoMEOW @LilyGoMEOW : About the future of Xenoblade X, based on statements from Koh Kojima in 2018, he said he wished to make Xenoblade 3 and Xenoblade X2.
Now that Xenoblade 3 is done and finished it only makes sense to develop Xenoblade X sequel.

To please long time fans, Monolith Soft could make the game story driven and full of cutscenes with some very deep plotwists.

Spoiler: I wonder if Lao could actually be a hero and Project Exodus is actually bad.

Also the game could definitely revert to a two cartridge/disc approach.

Unless cartridges suddenly become a heck of a lot cheaper to make, we're not going to get any games across two of them. The exact cost of manufacturing a Switch cartridge is hidden behind NDAs, but we're probably looking at about seven times that of a disc.

Nintendo will eat the extra cost of an 8GB cartridge over a disc to keep games publishable that way on the Switch. However, if anyone wants a larger cartridge, let alone two of them, they're paying the full amount extra. That's why there are so many third party games with big mandatory downloads and hardly anyone uses the 32GB cartridges even though they've been available since launch.

I recently ordered the Annapurna Interactive collection for Switch and it comes on a single cartridge, presumably a 32GB one, containing all the games, where the PlayStation version comes on eight discs. Rumor has it that the latter was cheaper to make.

ok but will we ever find out who the Black Knight is?

xenoblade!!!

Grumblevolcano

@Matt_Barber That's a reason I think it would be more likely Switch 2 only. Either Nintendo's found a solution to the cart price issue for Switch 2 or physical gaming in general for the system will be mostly a mix between the MGS collection approach (cart is mostly a game launcher, have to download the games) and the code in box approach.

@luckyseven, I'm new to this site, so I'm unsure how to properly tag a comment as a spoiler, so apologies if anyone who hasn't completed Xenoblade X sees the following:

[Spoiler] in the official artbook: the black knight was supposed to be the main villain.

In the artbook there is also another man who is Japanese, he is probably Ares, he was supposed to be the main protagonist, his age is late 20s and apparently has a father.
My guess is that this man was Elma's love intrust, that she mentions in the game.
Also there was supposed to be a place in Xenoblade X called New Tokyo, with fictional Akihabara and Sakuraba.

See the link if you want for more info:

https://xenomira.wordpress.com/2021/09/07/art-of-mira-summary...

All these cut content is because the developers had to literally throw away half of the plot because they wanted to use a player avatar instead of a said protagonist.

@xenobladexfan There are spoiler tags on this site: [spoiler]text you want hidden[ /spoiler], you get rid of the gap between "[" and "/" in the 2nd bracket

So like this:

@Grumblevolcano it's quite hard to do but thanks for your explanation: I remember on Miiverse putting text as spoiler was easy but here it is quite tricky,

I wanted to use the spoiler tag because I wanted to talk in depth about huge spoilers from Xenoblade X but I fear anyone who doesn't know the game might be spoiled.

Xeno series = max hype.

xenobladexfan

@EaglyBird that would be cool, there is so much unused content that unfortunately didn't make it in Xenoblade X, so surely Nintendo should remaster the game and make an complete version on either Switch or successor console.
If successful the company could continue a trilogy set in the Xenoblade X universe but connect the game to the Klaus saga.

Xeno series = max hype.

xenobladexfan

@EaglyBird, yes you are correct it definitely does have connections to the trilogy, such as the fact that the game explicitly states that Telethia came from another plane, xenoblade x is the only other game in the series that has telethia in it.

Also about the your Wii U breaking, I thought mine broke the other day but it turned out that the AC adapter that powers the console was faulty so I bought an official one from eBay and the console worked again, maybe it could be an easy fix like mine was.

Xeno series = max hype.

xenobladexfan

@EaglyBird : I was thinking the same about the telethia going through the portal, I conclude that it was going to the world of Xenoblade X.

It's a huge shame these old classics fall to the hand of scalpers, when I got my copy of Xenoblade X on 2020, the limited edition was only worth £40, now it's worth £100, also the non limited edition has gone up in price too, we just have to hope Nintendo will remaster the game.

Xeno series = max hype.

Monolith Soft mentioned, “they’ll be making Xenoblade Chronicles X2.” I’m not sure if they’re planning on making Xenoblade Chronicles X DX on Nintendo Switch, or not.
