I'd rather have a physical compilation of FF1-FF6.
I did think FF15 had some positives they created a stunning world and some nice ideas (cooking and driving for example) that were handled well, it looked good and the first half was pretty great but the lack of direction story wise a terrible TERRIBLE combat system and poor character writing (basically everything people want from a FF game) ruined it for me. It felt to me like they were focusing so much on creating this stunning looking world and everything else took a back seat. A real shame as FF15 COULD have been series defining.
The world was gorgeous and the main cast was likable enough and it had some neat features, but the story had to be one of the most half-baked things I've played through in years. I doubt I'll ever play it again. Porting it to Switch would be a waste, in my opinion, because it's not a great game. It's just good.
@bluemage1989 same.. this is the game that really sold my switch. I wanted botw and was intrigued by the switch but that would never have been enough to sell me.. when i saw octopath i was SOLD and then Xenoblade just sealed the deal.
I bought my switch just to play octopath demo. I didn't buy a game for like 3 weeks until Mario came out. Now that I'm done with Xenoblade ill be nothing but anxious waiting for a release date and then waiting for release.. ill be buying botw to tide me over but man.. I'm ready for octopath NOW
I've said this about 20 times on this forum now but it bears repeating.
They've fixed quite a few of the holes the in the story in the various updates they've added to it. Ignis and Prompto DLC both were crucial for the main story. And then the free updates to Chapter 13 and Chapter 12 were also very helpful and also fixed the most annoying gameplay segment of the game.
And then this upcoming DLC in March looks like it'll do a bit more (especially in bringing Cor back into the picture).
There are still some holes they could fill in but they've massively solved the problems with Ignis, Prompto and Ravus, which were awfully striking on launch.
@bluemage1989
That game looks awesome and promising. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
@Dezzy
I want to say I played it in the spring of last year? Around that time. I remember they'd made changes by that point to the later chapters (good changes). I think there was DLC available for purchase. It might have been the Gladio DLC. But I honestly wasn't enjoying myself enough to want to pay for it. It was one of those things. I have seen new stuff for the game pop up occasionally on the PS Store. There were these big gaps in the story with some of the characters, and it confuses me as to why I have to pay for something that should have been in the game in the first place.
I'm not saying I hated the game, at all. I liked it enough to finish it, but the final package I (and many others) played was just half-decent. It had a lot of good and neat qualities, but there was really nothing to write home about.
Obviously we shouldnt have to but Squarenix clearly had a messy development of this game and they just needed to release something in 2016. Then they were left with the choice of either just leaving it or continuing to improve it. At that point, I'm glad they chose to improve it. New players as well as 2nd timers can now experience a far better game.
All I'd say is that I bet if you replay it at the end of 2018 when everything has been done, you'll like it a lot more. The gaps in the story for Prompto, Ignis and Ravus have all been fixed.
