So I know this probably isn't a big deal to anyone but me but I usually stay away from games with microtransactions and I've been happy Nintendo's output on switch has stayed away from them.
So I was a bit dissapointed to see daemon x machina will have them, I liked the demo a lot but I'm not sure if I will pick up the game anymore.
But I was wondering what you guys think about this? Does it change your decision on buying this game?
All I see is future paid DLC being offered as a digital preorder bonus.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

In game purchases could mean future expansions also not necessarily mtx.
Edit: looking at the eshop page, all it mentions is a couple of pre-order suits that will available as paid dlc after launch. Is that what you're referring too? Seems silly to skip a game you're excited about just for that.
@redd214
In game purchases are normally more than that. For example the mii costumes in smash are listed as DLC
So if it was the pre order stuff it would probably just be DLC but it being an in game purchase there is probably a paid currency you can buy for more skins in the game
@Obsoneti meh just dont see how optional purchases are a big enough deal to skip a game you're looking forward to. Especially if they end up being purely cosmetic.
@redd214 Well that's fine but for me it annoys me to not be able to get all the cosmetic stuff naturally which is impossible if they start selling stuff like this.
Anyway, I pre-ordered it before I knew this so I am still getting it but I am bummed to hear about this is all.
And it might not be purely cosmetic, the only thing we know is there will be in-game purchases but it could be any number of things. Being able to send money to get a better mech is still a possibility
@DenDen
Yup, I tend to avoid them as well.
I would have waited until release to see exactly what they were but I already pre-ordered on the eshop and I didn't see it the first time.
Too bad there are no refunds
If they're selling skins it doesn't affect the game at all (I think I'll live without a Starfox themed mech....), it's when abilities, skills, modes, difficulties, and things like "you have to grind for hours unless you buy our XP multiplier for $10" that anger me. " Selling bonus stuff for whales with OCD that need to buy 100% of everything doesn't actually harm the experience. Using the internet as an arcade coin box to design games to keep you pumping quarters in to get to the end normally is a plague of gaming.
Somehow I can't imagine a Nintendo game, at least yet, becoming the latter.
Give me a picture source. I'm not seeing anything on these "in-app purchases" beyond just allowing the preorder bonus items to be purchased as DLC later on. Bit miffed that there are even pre-order bonuses, but meh.
Nintendo UK's actual website says nothing, and the US eShop/website says nothing as well. And even then, they're not always gospel. According to Nintendo at one point, Luigi's Mansion didn't support cloud saves until they updated it to say it does.
@NEStalgia Actually I'd argue otherwise. Making your cosmetics look awesome IS part of the gameplay, especially in a game like Monster Hunter or Daemon X Machina that really wants you to look awesome while being awesome. The "it's just cosmetic" line isn't really enough for me considering for some people, it does tie into their gameplay experience. I don't go full obsessive over that stuff as much as other people, but it certainly does matter to quite a few other people.
@EvilLucario
Well it only says it on the eshop which doesn't let you take pictures.
But on the UK one it is definitely there.
And yes of course it could be a mistake because it's only listed in one place but I've never seen a game up for pre-order with the in-app purchases that has been changed later.
I just digitally pre-ordered this and Astral Chains today. In the United States they took away our 2-game vouchers offer last night. So they were both purchased with one final purchase lol. I bought the 2-game voucher 4 times
If there are micro-transactions that's fine. I have willpower lol

Well said. I think it's time the "Just cosmetic" defense gets thrown out, because all it does is lower the bar even more for gaming overall.
