Topic: Best Affordable TV for Nintendo Switch

Hello, I recently moved and my old TV broke, I don't have a lot of money and I was wondering if I could get good recommendations for the best affordable TVs for my Nintendo Switch. I think it does not have to be a 4K one nor do I have much space (or funds) to have a big TV. I have been looking at a 32-inch TCL Full HD 1080p LED TV. Thank you for your help!

I grew up with Mario but he hasn't even aged as much as me.

You can get LG 32" TVs with that spec for not much. Can't remember the model I've got but my year-old LG 32" works really well.

Edit: just checked UK prices for that spec for LG and it's <£200, so I imagine something similar in $, plus tax

Check out the supermarkets, Tesco has a decent range of affordable TV's that perform really well.

@NeonPizza Someone says they don't have a lot of money and they're looking for an affordable TV, and you recommend a 1300 dollar one? 😃

Vizio 40 inch HD goes for around $150. That's what I've been using for years.

The Switch is 1080p max resolution, so unless you are planning on getting a PS5/Xbox Series X in order to access 4K gaming and content and considering you sound like you’re on a budget, a decent HD tv will be fine for Switch.

If you are in the UK you could also consider checking out some larger charity shops. I see a lot of 32 inch TVs going for next to nothing regularly. If you are not bothered about a shiny new set then you could use a cheap second hand set for now and save your money for a much better new tv in the future?

I recommend Goodwill if you're looking for a t.v. that can do 720p to 1080p. They go for about between $13-15 at best. They may not always come with a remote but universal remotes can help.

You might be lucky to find TCL, as I have seen them at least once in awhile. Thrift stores I also recommend too.

@daftgear In recent years, it looks like TV companies have mostly focused gaming oriented tvs for the 50-65 inch market. I've wanted a 32" tv for gaming, but I found the 32-40" market is largely neglected, which is quite disappointing. Unfortunately, I don't have a recommendation for a 32". I've put off buying because I haven't been happy with what the market has. If I was going to buy, I wanted something that leans toward future proof, and I was going to compromise and get a 43" Sony X85K, which is usually around $600 tv, but I totally understand if that's more than you wanted to pay, or larger than you want.

In the past 3-4 years, tv rating sites like rtings.com knock a lot of affordable smaller tv's for lack of brightness and motion blur, but I'm not clear the if motion blur they site (or pixel response time trails) will be something I'd actually notice with the games I play.

TVs with slower pixel response time tend to leave trails behind fast moving objects. If you know this, disregard.

EDIT: If you do get a 32" TV you're happy with for the Switch, let me know.

rtings site does have an updated page for "best gaming TVs". And I do see something affordable and has 32" option, the Roku Select TV. As you look through the page, near the tv model names, you'll see a list showing the screen sizes that model is available in. The Roku Select is the only one that has a 32". The next smallest affordable tv on the list is 43" TCL Q5. So, try looking into those.

You'll get more bang for your buck with a TCL or Hisense, for sure. Unlike most of the no-name brands, they actually make TVs, so you can be reasonably sure of what you're getting.

Samsung and LG make better TVs overall, but not at those price points.

@daftgear You should info us what country Region your from so others can give a better recommendation for TV size. I from NA use Sanyo 32 inch for my Switch and it works fine and has good audio was around 130usd and is small for space size and not bad for playback. Other wise use Amazon to find and see reviews to find one that fits what your budget as well.

Sanyo are an orphaned brand these days, with the original company being split up and taken over around in the 2000s. If you're buying a TV with their name on, it's probably a Funai, or some other no-name.

That's not to say that it won't be OK for the money, but make a note of the model number if you find a good one, because whatever they're selling in a month or two might be something else entirely.

@NeonPizza The OP says they want a 32 inch TV. Those TVs don't appear available that small, as far as I can see.

@Daftgear You may want to edit your first post, so you can add "32 inch" to the title.

Thanks everyone, you have all been very helpful. To the people asking where I’m from, I live in the United States. I see some of you have good things to say about Hisense, I have not decided on anything yet but definitely will look into that brand, you all seem to like LG also, I know for sure that is a great brand, maybe in the future, for now I can only afford a more limited funds friendly TV . @WoomyNNYes thank you for the performance info!
