@TecmoZack You shouldn't worry. The stories are complete and utter cheese and the writers know it.

Well, it does look very strong judged from the 8 minute trailer. I wonder how our Switches will cope: Things look to get very hectic, probably even more so then in the first 2 games. A pity though that they went for the darker Bayonetta 1 style, but other then that it looks really promising.

Not sure I'll watch anything leading up to the release of game. I just need it in my hands now!

@NintendoByNature There aren't any story spoilers in the video. It's just Ralph gushing over the gameplay and the new mechanics.

Sounds like the game is straight 🔥 🔥 🔥 judging by all the previews.

SkillUp straight up hates Nintendo (this is not inferred- he said it flat out in a podcast with Alana Pearce), so if even he's pumping the game you know it's good.

What gets me is how so many Nintendo fans turn up their nose at masterpieces being fed to them on a silver platter. Countless ppl are desperately complaining this game isn't on "their console". It's a gem. Yet when you look at video view counts among the Nintendo communities, it's paltry. Everyone is ignoring it. Then you look at SkillUp's video, and nearly 200k views in 24 hrs.

Practically the entire world is salivating at the mouth over this game except Nintendo fans.

Even though Bayonetta 3 is angling to be critically acclaimed and will most likely become the best selling entry in the series, I'm assuming it'll struggle to reach 2m sales. If ever there was an underappreciated series...it's Bayonetta.

@Magician
That's for sure.

I'd be happy seeing Bayo3 hit 2 million tbh. That's kinda the threshold I'm hoping to see it cross.

Idk why so many ppl ignore it. The games are insanely good and follow a more old school design which you'd think Nintendo fans would appreciate more than anyone.

There is a large segment of PS/Xbox/PC gamers who own a Switch and just rarely play it though. And I'm hoping they step up and make this game the success it deserves to be.

I have a question for the thread, Bayonetta seems right up my alley in terms of gameplay, I've looked into it and it really seems like something I ought to be playing. But how rated M is it actually? I don't care about cussing at all, scantily clad characters aren't too much of an issue (though I'd prefer no nudity), and blood, drugs, etc don't matter much to me either.

When rated M games take things too far though, I just end up with a bad taste in my mouth, so I'm kind of wary about the series.

Games I'm playing right now:
Tears of the Kingdom - Switch

Kingdom Hearts 2 - PS4
Ace Attorney Trilogy - Switch

@FroZtedFlake
No, I don't think it takes it too far.

I mean, for sure it has some sexual content (no nudity though), and maybe some cursing here and there, and themes of hell and demons, but it's not trying to fry your senses with mature content or anything. It tries to fry your senses with crazy awesome action and set pieces.

Wow. Ok...

So here's my thoughts.

First off, I love her as Bayo and would have been glad to see her return. And I can appreciate the fact she stood on her principles and refused an offer she felt wasn't enough.

However.

Saying, "Jennifer Hale has no right, I'm the one who made the voice, you should skip the game and donate your money instead" is crossing the line. If it bothers her so much, she should have taken the job. I admire her sticking to her guns, but you can't then go and get salty they hired someone else and expect fans to just skip out on a masterpiece.

I'm sorry. But no. I'm not skipping this game. I shouldn't have to miss out on a top shelf game because a voice actress refused a gig.

Jennifer Hale is one of the most prolific and successful voice actors in all of gaming. If the pay was good enough for her, then it seems to me expecting more than what the most prolific voice actor is willing to accept is expecting too much.

So she turned down a role she felt she was being low-balled on, gets salty when it becomes apparent that she's easily replaceable, and is now attempting to enact some sort of petty revenge by guilt-tripping fans of the series into not buying the game they've been waiting the better part of a decade for.

Her comments and general demeanor in the videos seem... unhinged. And she's apparently violating an NDA by speaking about this online? Probably for the best that they parted ways with this actress.

I hope she has a good lawyer.

Her criticizing Jennifer Hale for taking on the role is when she lost any sympathy I had for her. Was it a lowball offer? I don't know what the wages are for games, but it's definitely possible. Still, it was her choice to pass on the role. I know it was to take a stand, but get over yourself if you think that everybody should follow suit.

I tend to ignore the politics of things like this anyways. I play what I want to play, and it's honestly none of my business. It's their business to handle whatever problems they have going on. I won't be boycotting this game whenever I actually end up playing it (I still haven't played Bayonetta 2 yet, so it will be a while), and I don't exactly appreciate somebody trying to tell me what to do just because they walked away from the project. If what they did was criminal, maybe it would be different, but it would have to be extreme.

I don't blame anyone for passing on work if they feel like the wage being offered is beneath them, but she tackled this in an incredibly undignified way.

Probably not great for potential future work either. If I was in charge of finding voice talent for my game and saw how she handled this situation, I have to imagine I'd avoid associating with her altogether.

@Ralizah When I use to work for a contractor painting, the foreman would look at the offer and if they thought it was too low, he would pass on it and the client would go with someone else who would accept the offer that's how business works. They are always other clients out there.

Did she honestly think that no one else could voice Bayonetta??

Oof yeah, that really isn't a good look for Hellena. I do wish she voiced Bayonetta again but to boycott the entire game? Idk about that. I wonder how much she was paid for the previous games.

@Tasuki Given the ranting about how she created the voice, Jennifer Hale has no right to voice the character, etc. etc. I'm guessing she thought her performance was inimitable or something. In reality, the average player who isn't tuned into this sort of thing probably won't even realize there was a change in voice actress.

So it was probably a nasty surprise when it was revealed that the voice actress was different and the reaction was broadly a collective shrug.

A well-adjusted person would have moved on with their life, or maybe posted well wishes to the new voice actress. Perhaps worked the convention circuit in the future. Instead, probably due to pre-existing mental health issues, she reacted the way she did, which will likely come back to haunt her.
