I really enjoyed the game Never Give Up. You race through levels and try to survive while navigating all kinds of traps. Controls are precise and the game is a lot of fun.
It's always hard to determine what is 'hidden' and what isn't but the first game that covers to mind that definitely fits the bill is MO:Astray. Such an excellent 2D platformer that nobody ever talks about.
Well, BenA, we dont know about games like Conarium until we watch a youtube video from Switchplanet or a videogamer youtube that talks about a certain game they played such as Conarium.
To me, Conarium is a hidden gem that i never heard of until i saw a youtube video of the game. That and i saw it when browsing the Great Deals section on the eshop.
I'm finding it really hard to keep up with all the indie titles mixed in with the shovelware to know what's good. I usually stick with franchises I've already heard of. It's like i'm weary of anything unfamiliar because I'm afraid it might really dissapoint me.
If somebody old school who's been gaming since the 80's/90's could give me some ideas of new stuff they would consider must haves I might be more inclined to make a purchase. Too many times i just bought something based on retro style appeal and wished i hadn't.

There's a recommendations thread if you're looking for recommendations. It'd probably best to give people a rough idea of what kind of games you like so people can give you more relevant suggestions...one man's trash is another man's treasure.
