Hey all.. how does the open gate thing work? I'd be totally cool with you all trapesing all over my dodgy island anytime if you like.

@C-Chakra Nintendo being Nintendo its more complicated than it should be. If you want strangers you have to request a dodo code at the airport. Then you have to share that code with people. Ok that’s simple. But....

For your switch friends they have to be your best friends or they have to have visited your island already for them to access your island if you just open the gate for “friends” instead of posting a dodo code.

As long as your gate is open, any one from your switch friend list is able to visit your island. You'll be unable to shop using the nook stop while they are open though. The difficulty is getting people to know when your gate is open - I often see a notification on my friend app on the nook phone, and I initially believed that signified someone's gate is open, but I think it just means someone on your seitch friend list is playing the game.

@meeto_1 Thanks for the reply! So if I share my Dodo code on here and I open the gates, does that mean anyone can come through and change around stuff on my island, or can I set that as an option?

either way i'm not too worried about people making changes.. make it cool, and if I don't dig it, it will just give me more to do anyway. Sounds more fun having random guests appear, so whoever wants to grab my switch code, send me a friend request if you like.. Chakra's gate is open

@C-Chakra visitors who are your friends won’t be able to: move furniture or terraform. They could take your fruits and flowers. They can fish and catch bugs and chop wood.

I think that’s correct.

So are the bamboo recipes a limited time seasonal thing, too? I hadn't seen anything about those, so I thought you could get them anytime. I actually successfully got the final cherry blossom recipe last night, but I haven't been worrying about the bamboo ones because I thought those were year-round.

I tested it. If you want the campsite to be functional, you need to have a house marker on your island.

@Xyphon22 They show up under the seasonal category when looking through your recipes.....not quite sure if that means at some point the bamboo island won't be accessible at all during a certain timeframe or if you just quit getting the recipes during a certain timeframe

@foxyfimflam, @Xyphon22, while regular Bamboo is year round, Young Spring Bamboo (the lighter green ones) are only produced during the spring (I think March-May), and as such any recipe that requires it is seasonal.

@darkfenrir They can't move in though I don't believe. And if they could, it would be risky as I'm not sure you would be able pick who they replace like when you invite an amiibo character!
