I personally think Link can do great without speaking lines. Wishing for a NES brown hair Link this time. Other than that I'm hoping for a cast of unknowns. The Zelda franchise can hold its own without a Timothee, Tom, Chris, or any other mega star that could overshadow the film.
But this film will likely be a reference pop culture film that will look too much like LOTR and will tie into Smash Bros. Hoping Miyamoto doesn't get manipulated to thinking what's cool and what sells.
What people always miss is that you need a hook for people not into gaming. If they decided they need celebrities for Mario and Pikachu, you bet they will have celebrities as Link and Zelda, a much less known franchise in non gamer circles.
@GrowingWings Maybe they can get a well known Japanese cast but I doubt it. I hope Miyamoto will be much more strict with everything about this film and not be a Yes-Man.
Casting unknown actors worked great in the recent One Piece LA adaptation, so I would hope they go for that. Although a movie without big names is probably not gonna make as much dollar, so I guess at least one Hollywood Chris is gonna be in this.
Like GrowningWings mentioned above, I assume celebs are part of the formula to attract or appeal to families, parents, non-gamers to grow the market. A successful, popular Nintendo movie is a sales multiplier for console's, games, merchandise, toys. Nintendo has basically been taking business cues from Disney.
