Music Needed for 'Boxshot Rerun 2014':
Hey guys, if you didn't know already, I'm currently an on-the-side game developer. I've been working at it on and off and I've completed two projects fully, with about three in planning stage and one with a completed engine. Right now (and through the summer) I'm working on a re-skin and re-coding of one of my previous games BOXSHOT (which can be downloaded here: http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/154687). One of the things I desperately need is music, I could attempt to make it myself, but I don't have the time, experience or tools. I would love to work with someone here and am willing to give a %25 share in ALL income from THIS GAME and any others that you allow its use in. The truth is, I don't expect any income from this game as my popularity is probably not high enough to be able to ship any copies with a price tag, however, if under £100 is made after the first year, then I will happily pay you £25 as a thank you. Don't expect a AAA game or AAA profit from this as I'm not expecting a AAA artist, just someone who is willing to spend the start of their summer on a creative and constructive project with a fellow Nintendo nerd

Music needed:
(I don't mind if you already have the music or if you create it now, as long as you own ALL the rights)

Title Screen: slow, Metroid style, title screen shows an expanse of space

In-Game: fast-paced, F-Zero style, feeling of speed and skill

Credits: play the first game, understand the space theme of Rerun and come up with something of your choice

If you have any questions or want to accept my offer, reply on this thread or email me at: [email protected]

You shouldn't be offering a percentage of the income from the game, the person making the music should be giving you a quote for how much it will cost you. With your offer if the game fails to make anything then the person will get nothing, I was once strongly advised against this sort of deal and anyone with sense will avoid it too.

I know what it's like to ask for help, and receive none. So I'd like to help you if I can.

More details on exactly what you're wanting, would help me know if I'll be able to help you or not. Like, you mentioned "Metroid style," so you're wanting a basic, slightly haunting, atmospheric resonance, with hints of discord? Is there just one "In-Game" track? How long do the tracks need to be? I'll need a little more than "come up with something".

I don't know if I can deliver what you're looking for, but if I can, you don't need to worry about compensating me. I'll help just because you asked.

@Usagi-san that's why I said "The truth is, I don't expect any income from this game as my popularity is probably not high enough to be able to ship any copies with a price tag, however, if under £100 is made after the first year, then I will happily pay you £25 as a thank you" I was advised against deals will people who don't read the small print (let alone the perfectly normal sized print)

@FattyWhale_42 thanks, that's very generous of you! First thing's first, if you haven't already, please play the first BOXSHOT (the music is Moby's, I know). That description of the title music is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, but the game never takes itself too seriously, so it's not 100% genuine epic. as for the in-game music, I am planning to have one track for gameplay, but if you can, a track for normal gameplay and boss gameplay. I've got a basic engine running (in three days ), and enemies, UI and a menu to come within the month. Here's a link to a video of it: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=671540009600969&l=73... . I think the credits music ("come up with something") can be left until the game is finished and it has a definite feel to it, If you're not up to it then, I can always re-use the menu theme . The menu track could be as short as a minute but it needs to loop effectively. The gameplay song(s) should be about 1min30 to 2min if you don't want them to loop, but any length is fine if it loops smoothly. Since it is a side scrolling shoot-em-up I can orchestrate the exact length of a level, so if you create a 2ish min song, I can make the level end as the song does, level design is VERY EASILY tweaked. Oh and one other thing, I don't do dubstep, sorry any more questions/whatever, fire away!
