Topic: Help: Can you play Wii Virtual Console games downloaded from Club Nintendo on the Gamepad?

Hey lads, it's me again, sorry to be annoying. I recently discovered this 'Club Nintendo' reward points, and managed to get 910, but I want to download Mario Tennis on my Wii U, I already know that I'll have to play on the Wii Menu, so no problems on that. But there's this thing I don't figure out: If you don't have a Wii Pro Controller (Not Wii U Pro Controller), can you play the Wii VC games using the Gamepad, or would it mean that I'd have to buy the Pro Controller for playing Mario Tennis on my Wii U?

Thanks for clearing my doubts. Don't know how all this work, but don't want to end wasting points in a game I can't seem to play if I don't have some controllers.

How is that the same? If I play an xbox game on my 360, the 360 controller works perfectly fine with it. I'm not unable to play the xbox game because I'm not using an xbox controller. We're going forward here, not backwards.

To fully answer your question, no. You can't play this game with the Gamepad (as of right now anyway)..
What you would have to do, is go to the Wii Menu on the Wii U to play the game. Once your in that Wii Menu, the gamepad isn't going to do anything.
You will need a Wii Classic Controller in order to play Mario Tennis or any other 64 VC game on the Wii U.

When you get an Xbox game on a 360, do you have to pay for it, or does Microsoft let you move your Xbox games to your 360 for free?
