I had a good team of five Pokemon already, but I really wanted a Kingdra for my team. So I went to the GTS and requested a Lv. 50 and up Kingdra, hoping it'd have a nickname (I usually nickname the Pokemon I catch or obtain in-game). The first one arrived and...it was a Lv. 100 female. Lv. 100 was twice too high for my team of Lv. 50-52 Pokemon, and I had three females already (I wanted three of each gender), plus it didn't have a nickname! Of all the luck! So I requested another Lv. 50+ Kingdra (a male this time). It arrived from Japan with the name "KINGUDORA" in katakana, it was male, it knew Flash Cannon (an unexpected bonus), and...it was Lv. 80. I thought to myself, 'Third time's a charm!', and, lo and behold, I finally got my Lv. 50 male "KINGUDORA" (another one from Japan). I decided that if I was to have one Pokemon with an international name, then I could rename my entire team to have a very diverse and varied name selection. So, I saw the Name Rater in Goldenrod and had my party changed from this...
-KINGUDORA (direct Japanese pronunciation of KINGDRA) -UKMAY ('MUK' in pig latin) -PHARAMP (the French name for AMPHAROS, it simply screams 'My beacon is so bright!') -DOSYDON (the Romaji name for RHYPERIOR, Romaji being Japanese as English - RHYPERIOR's Japanese name is actually spelled and pronounced 'DOSAIDON') -MUINAGEM (a direct Girafarigging of MEGANIUM) -KRAMSHEF (the German name for HONCHKROW, it gives off a strong 'I'm the Big Daddy, and I'm cool as a cucumber in the arctic tundra' vibe)
...and so my team of multilingual Pokemon was formed! What nicknames do you give your team of Pokemon?
NintendoPurist's Word of the Day: Girafarig Read as an adverb 1. Verb the act of reading a Pokemon's name back-to-front; 2. Adj. describing a Pokemon's name that has been written or printed back-to-front; also see 'Girafarigging' and 'Girafarigged'
