"This same shareholder asked a followup question: "During the Tohoku earthquake disaster, I believe people in the evacuation centers were lacking in exercise. Why didn't you bring Wii Fit to them? Why didn't you show off to the media that you're doing more for the victims?"

Iwata responded that while it is true that some may be able to use Wii Fit to recover from their lack of exercise, others might have lost loved ones and wanted to spend time quietly. So, they felt that it would not be good to send out product indiscriminately.

However, Nintendo did actually did ask the governing bodies of affected areas and sent needed items. They did the same for evacuation shelters. While doing this, they did not feel that they should show their actions off to the world, and had a policy of not involving the media."

Pure class, Nintendo. Well done.

I agree that sending them Wii Fit would just seem too much like publicity. It is best they bought what was needed, instead of their own product.

This has nothing to do with competition what so ever. This was about providing aid to those who needed it. The companies may have done it in different ways, but this isn't the place to compare them.

Say what? Who asks questions like that?

haha, the same type of person who tells Iwata he thinks games are a waste of time and bought Nintendo stock because it was listed the year he was born.

Oh for lord's sakes. We just had to get childish fanboyism in here, didn't we?

Sony did a great deal anyway. I'm certain Microsoft and Apple did as well.

What did you expect?

Perhaps some examples and links would enlighten the fanboys here

Or we can just appreciate what Nintendo did in isolation, and leave the fanboyism for another time. People shouldn't compare philanthropy. It's not a biggest <> contest.

Back on topic please.

Oh, sorry, I thought we were saying things completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

@lz And why am I not quoted first?

It's nice when company's do these things, whether its public knowledge or not, it always makes good in the end.
