Topic: Mario WILL NOT be in Wreck It Ralph 2

“Some of the stuff was that we don’t have rights to certain characters, because we’re working in a world of other people’s media. It’s like, that would have been really funny if we could have Mario in here doing this part, but it doesn’t end up working out because of that, and it’s fine“

I would have at least liked to see him referenced or in a cameo

Back in 2012 the director, Rich Moore, said this about Mario appearing in WIR 2,

Don't care with the movie.
Mario can exist on different movies.
It doesn't have to appear on Wreck it Ralph 2.

I figured there would at least be a cameo, like with Bowser in the first movie. Eh, it is what it is.

Perhaps Disney and Nintendo are saving Mario for a possible third movie, it could be about Mario going missing, and the entire video game world revs up a nuclear apocalypse somehow, basically it'll be Mad Max but with video game characters.

Remember if Mario will have his own movie again.

Comcast (the company who is making the new Mario movie) probably have an exclusivity contract for Mario appearing in another companys movie for a certain amount of years.

Disney doesn’t want to be seen promoting corporate rival Comcast’s works which would include Illumination’s future Mario movie.

Honestly, the movie feels like its tackling Internet culture more than videogames so not really surprised.

@Mrtoad god I don't know who I like less, Disney or Comcast. Both are demons of the media industry. Oh wait, I know, I like EA the least. XD

I think we all know the Mario movie will just be a piece of mindless kids fluff.
