If that means WW had to miss out on a cumbersome water temple with murky visuals and a pushover boss, then there's nothing of value lost.

I will never understand people who hate water levels. I figure they've lived horrible Dickensian childhoods and lost all hope as a result.

Oh, @Octane, I almost forgot (in keeping with the meme motif):

Because Morpheel was just a strictly better, upgraded version of Molgera. Check. Mate.

Kinda weird to see the whole "You can't possibly think Skyward Sword is any good because here's an essay list of things that I was personally annoyed about it that makes it impossible for it to be considered good by anyone!" angle still in 2016.

@Haru17 Upgraded in the sense that it was based on Molgera? Yes. However, that doesn't matter as the battle itself was child's play. Even Molgera's easy fight was still more difficult than the battle with Morpheel (sorry @Meowpheel, but it's true)

@Octane Upgraded in the sense that they added an entire phase. Molgera was either a sand trap or a nice-to-look-at flying scene that was totally non-interactive. Morpheel actually lets you swim around with the giant monster. Easy or not, that's what video games are about.

And the Lakebed Temple was excellent, you crazy!

Octane

@Haru17 Don't worry mate, I love TP and I like the Lakebed Temple. I do think Morpheel was easier than it should've been though.

@Meowpheel Right? For one, I think it's bonkers-level nonsense to say "Morpheel bad, waggle paddling good." Even if the controls are half way decent, you need to actually have a water level for swimming to make much of an impact.

What people need to understand is, especially in games with multiple bosses that you only fight once each, difficulty is far from the only factor. Morpheel is one of the better set pieces in games. You start the fight with this long, atmospheric descent, the iron boots pulling Link down into the flooded chamber. There is the slow reveal of the boss's tentacle-y head, then its full body, and finally it swims around, toppling pillars and crashing into the wall, cracking it and draining the lake water.

@Peek-a-boo I didn't find Skyward Sword to be repetitive. The only thing I didn't really like was the was the boss battle with Ghirahim that I didn't quite understand but was still somehow able to randomly hit and defeat him.

Fi I didn't find any more or less annoying than anyother Zelda side kick.

I thought the art style is the best.
I thought the dungeon design is the best.
I thought the combat was the best.
I enjoyed dowsing.
I liked the crafting upgrade system.
I like how the overworld is dense with puzzle solving blurring the line between what is a dungeon and what is not. It seems better to me than a huge empty field that seems a staple in every other game.
I was able to enjoy this game almost entirely with out the help of a walkthrough, I knew what to do next, and I like that.
I thought it was the best characterization of Zelda, her and Links relationship is the most developed, and you care more about Zelda than you do in any other game.
The story overall is not better or worse than any Zelda in my view.

I think I am liking Twilight Princess better in HD with out motion control waggle attack button

That first battle with ghirahim is rather simple after you catch the mechanics.

He follows your sword, and will catch it if you slash. What you need to do is lure his hand to a side and then quickly slash him from another direction.

... Though of course maybe you mean the other battle against him. There the shield bash seems to be the best option.

Of the ones I've beaten:
1) Majora's Mask 3D (Total masterpiece that addresses almost every issue I have with OoT/OoT3D.)
2) A Link Between Worlds (Innovative new gameplay mechanic that changed how I think about Zelda puzzles. I love the ability to visit dungeons in any order. Also, it's gorgeous in 3D.)
3) The Wind Waker HD (Charming little adventure with great art design, fun ocean exploration, and some of my favorite "dungeons" in the series.)
4) A Link to the Past (Solid game that really established the Zelda formula.)
5) Oracle of Ages/Seasons (Surprisingly excellent third-party additions to the franchise. Best Zelda games on the GBC, IMO. I prefer Seasons to Ages, though.)
6) Ocarina of Time 3D (I had some issues with the game design in this one, and the original N64 version is painful to look at, but the remake on 3DS makes it significantly more enjoyable (especially that awful water dungeon).)
7) Link's Awakening DX (I detest some of the dungeons in this game, along with the awful trading sequence minigame, but it was still pretty impressive at the time.)
8) The Legend of Zelda (Brutally difficult, but the NES original definitely has its moments.)

Of the ones I haven't finished, I've played several hours of Twilight Princess HD (never thought I'd be so bored playing a Zelda game...) and The Adventures of Link (enjoy nothing about that game). I've never owned Skyward Sword or Minish Cap, although I plan to play them eventually.

@Ralizah How much of TP have you played? Cause it takes a while for that game to get going. After the initial couple of hours and once you're done with the tutorial stuff, it gets much much better.

Octane

@Octane A bit past the first big dungeon.

You have to play past the first dungeon to not be bored, or at least calling all of the beats, in any Zelda game.

Octane

@Ralizah Yeah, after the first dungeon, there's another twilight fetch quest, followed some lore building, the second dungeon and after that it really starts going. I don't think there's a definite point where the slow boring stuff ends, but it just slowly picks up and gets better over time. Definitely give it another go if you have the time. It's definitely one of the better Zelda games.

Haru17

Y'all do realize that Breath of the Wild, an open world game, is going to be the slowest and most boring of any game in the series... right? That's kind of the point of open world games: To walk everywhere. Slowly.

@Haru17 No Man's Zelda.

They better find a way to keep the game enticing.

Did you hear? BotW will have full online multiplayer integration.

The map is so big chances are you'll never find anyone else, though.

@Octane That's what I said earlier today! I swear to god I told that joke to a twitch chat. It's just such a soul-crushing thought, is it not?

If I pick it back up, I'll probably just start from where I left off. I can't replay three hours of ugly farm people asking me to herd animals. I just can't.
