Any edition. Discuss characters, adventures, houserules, or anything D&D related.
I'm playing over Skype with some family right now. I'm playing a Lv 14 Ninja T-N (He leans a bit towards good though). I love the ability to go Ethereal and invisible so much. I really like the Ninja class, definitely worth the copy of Complete Adventurer I got. I also think that Craven is the best feat in all of D&D.

And you have totally lost me lol, of course that's probably what I get for not playing since 3rd edition. I actually played alot during Jr. High and High school starting with AD&D 2nd Edition . Mainly played Ravenloft and the Forgotten Realms settings and I DM'd the Greyhawk setting. Last time I really played was back when third edition came out like early 2000's so I have a few books of that but the majority of my collection is 2nd edition.

The main reason I stopped playing was because after high school all the adult things happened to my friends and I, jobs, marriages, kids and all that fun stuff. I still get the itch to play every now and again but with no one to play with I just brush it off, but then again that's how I got into MMOs like World of Warcraft but that's a story for another thread.

Now son is now at the same age I was when I started playing D&D and his and his friends keep asking questions about it, I usually find them pulling my old books out of the closet I have them in and reading them so I might start something up with them.

Yeah, definitely start something up with them. Though yeah, if you don't have the right books, it would be easy to not know what I said about my character since I did a terrible job explaining lol. I'll explain a bit clearer. The Ninja class is a similar to the rouge, but more focused on agility. At the right Lv's he can go invisible or Ethereal (You step into the Ethereal plain and can the material plane, but go through anything in the material plane and can't be seen or heard (or smelled ) in the material plane. And Craven is a feat that adds your Lv to sneak attack to sneak attack damage, but you get a penalty with fear related will saves.

@Jaz007: Interesting. Yeah as far as I remember they didn't have feats in 2nd Edition, I think they just started them in 3rd Edition but as I said I stopped playing shortly after 3rd edition came out. I do remember Thac0 though

I remember this game in college. I am more dialogue and story heavy than combat oriented. Screw 4th edition!

Yeah, agreed. I don't even want to try 4th edition from what I've heard of it. I haven't played it yet, but I read 5th edition was supposed to be more of a proper sequel to 3.5.

I have the starter box set for 5th edition (which I bought it out of curiosity) and I have to say that it seems to mesh with 3.5 very well more so then what I heard about 4th editon. Although giving how popular Pathfinder became Wizards of the Coast had to do something to bring players back to D&D and honestly its nice to see it when a company pay attentions to the fans.

I'm in a group that plays 3.5, we recently started a new campaign. I'm playing a barbarian, he already died but was reincarnated as a gnoll. It's made for some fun roleplaying opportunities, as well as making him more powerful.

Honestly I think Pathfinder is a better 3.5. They fixed most of the problems of it

I agree. From what I have seen of Pathfinder it seemed alot better. I only downloaded the Alpha player's guide for it but since I didn't have anyone to play it I never bought any of the stuff.

I don't know about D&D, was it like Hero's Quest from back in the day? Maybe @Tasuki would know since he's old like me. Loved that game as a kid.

I just learned a year or so ago in a group that sticks with 3.5, though we haven't met since the summer (college and work). First I was a Paladin - worst choice I ever made, especially as a beginner, being so strictly tied to lawful good was a pain in the rear (not to mention the entire rest of my party was chaotic neutral so I essentially became the one trying to motivate the other characters to actually care about anything and as a beginner that was a lot of responsibility). Then, we lost and gained some members and decided to start a new campaign since we weren't exactly loving that one. I picked a chaotic neutral sorcerer half-elf who accidentally burned down his house and killed his family back when his powers started kicking in, and now was slightly unhinged and obsessed with fire. To the point where we'd find an important document and my teammates would immediately restrain me because they knew I was gonna burn it before anyone could read it. And honestly I was having a blast just blasting everything with fire, and having conversations with the flames. Plus I had a cat familiar who was more competent at most tasks than pretty much everyone else.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH THIS GAME!!!!!! >:3

4.0 has a lot of rules that are bull (mainly due to vague wording). For example, Ice Blast (a sorcerer spell) knocks you back 4 feet. Because that's all the book says, my friend jumped off a really tall tower in-game, targeted himself with the spell, got knocked up 4 feet off the ground, and landed safely. :3

Actually Heroes Quest was more like D&D, however with D&D you can make your own characters rather than 4 fixed characters. Also there is a leveling system and a whole heap of interesting things. The sky isn't the limit, there is no limit:

Heroes Quest was still good though.

@Ryno: I remember that board game as well and yes Dungeons and Dragons was very similar to Hero Quest, in fact Hero Quest used another tabletop RPGs setting called Warhammer.

And since you brought up Hero Quest I have to add this

So my son the other day made his first character a half orc barbarian. We decide to use 3.5 rules since that is the newest rule set I have that's still simple enough. I don't want to torture him with THAC0 lol. Anyway he read through the Players Handbook and a Player's Guide for Greyhawk (the campaign setting I will be using) and he came up with some great ideas for a character so I gave him a character sheet and he made his character. I am thinking I will run him through some solo adventures just to make sure he understands things like combat and what not before bringing his friends in.

I have to say this is one of my most proudest father moments.

@Tasuki That's great, I hope he has fun.
So I made a pathfinder character, but I haven't been able to use him het. Trouble matching up times with the campaign. He's a Lawful-Evil Half-Elf Rouge who's going to be an assassin. He is all about the hunt, and keeps his word when he shakes hands under his assassin name "Death's Bond." He also has Dunmer blood so he has darkvision. He is also named Nathan Rowe.
