This has happened very often. When I express appreciation for a Nintendo game around the web, oldest or newest that is, I get attacked with insults and even death threads. This is why I was bothered by the half failure of Switch, in terms of "regaining their crowd" in the first place: Fans of other consoles trend to be quite nasty over Nintendo and as a fan of their game myself, this situation has become unhealthy for me. I don't like to be picked on only because I like some games, and this whole situation has become so unstandeable to me that I'm also thinking to stop playing at all... did anyone else ever experience a situation like this on the web?
@BlackKnight93 It depends on how you express it. Many people on THIS site express their Nintendo appreciation by hating on other consoles. Which is pathetic.
I feel like the threads by this poster are some kind of weird bait. But regardless, I really don’t see why people other than yourself are part of your gaming equation. Buy the consoles and games you want. Simple as that. If people online really bother you, just stay away from those communities.
@BlackKnight93 Well, it's the internet. And more people are motivated to get on the internet to complain, than to praise. I would say some lack mental balance or respect, or have over inflated egos. I don't like turn based combat, but I realize lots of people love it. (but this is why I hate every single user above haha, I'm kidding).
The other thing is human nature & "Tragedy of the Commons". Any free & shared public space, shared by individuals, will always end up getting abused. For anyone reading that may not know the term, it's a theory taught in environmental science & economics. From wikipedia, I'll paste the first paragraph for Tragedy of the Commons:
"The tragedy of the commons is a situation in a shared-resource system where individual users, acting independently according to their own self-interest, behave contrary to the common good of all users by depleting or spoiling the shared resource through their collective action. The theory originated in an essay written in 1833 by the British economist William Forster Lloyd, who used a hypothetical example of the effects of unregulated grazing on common land (also known as a "common") in Great Britain and Ireland.[1] The concept became widely known as the "tragedy of the commons" over a century later due to an article written by American biologist and philosopher Garrett Hardin in 1968.[2] In this modern economic context, "commons" is taken to mean any shared and unregulated resource such as atmosphere, oceans, rivers, fish stocks, roads and highways, or even an office refrigerator. "
@The_Korean On the chance you dont know, Anti-matter is wired to be unfiltered at times expressing his game tastes. It seems to skew towards being on the autism scale. (this isn't a put down Anti-matter, I like you Anti.). That's how he is. So, if you think he was directing something toward you, don't take it personally. It just comes out like a hiccup, but not because he has ill will or real anger toward you. I've never seen him hold a grudge. If you talk about Dance Dance Revolution, he'll love you. He likes DDR. If he's crossing the line, if I've told him "alright, alright, I hear ya", like you would to a sibling, he's been fine. You can report his post, though. Everyone still needs boundaries. Nice forums don't happen by chance. But if you think he's directing anger toward you, look at it more like a hiccup, or lack of filter. I wouldn't worry.
I'm used to folk thinking if a game isn't football, gory or have swearing, it must be a kids game lol. I find it the easiest thing in the world to not care what folk like that think (about other things outside of gaming too coincidentally enough)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Woomy_NNYes It doesn't just seem to skew towards that, he actually IS in the spectrum: he has a form of Aspergers. That, and his low proficiency in English is often why I give him a pass on things, but even my patience runs out at times, and there's just so much of the same tired thing a person can take...

I was getting bullied for liking Nintendo ever since the N64 came out. I guess you weren't cool if you were still playing Nintendo after the playstation existed. No one ever gave me crap before that it seemed.
I always say if you wanna call yourself a gamer you better be into all aspects of the hobby no matter which company you prefer. I was a Nintendo kid to start out with because that's all i knew. It's what i grew up with and my introduction into videogames. Think of all the series of games we wouldn't have today if not for Nintendo's little gray box of joy! Gotta respect that or you just ain't no lover of videogames!
As for the bullies well they just haven't hit puberty yet so all you can do is pity them. Maybe they'll grow up someday but if not it's their loss.
