I don’t know all the details of the feature, but I’m not about to assume it does more than change a number and icon color. Start assuming any more than that, and we’ll have a soap box post like NSO @antdickens

I just checked before logging in on my laptop, and it turns out guests can't see any of the down votes for anyone at all.
I'm kind of curious about all the ins and outs of NL's new down vote system, but I'm also interested in seeing how this social experiment plays out before things are more detailed. I share some of the concerns that others do after seeing how such systems are abused elsewhere, but I would assume/hope (as a programmer) that a lot of planning and testing went into this before its "beta" implementation.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I also think it's a bad idea. If someone is being nasty and unrespectful there is the report option but the thumbs down is usually used as an anonymous hate system within an anonymous forum.
I think that superficial popular opinions will be on top and any critical opinion that questions Nintendo is going down.
Comments with a counterpoint and about other brands will be downvoted and thus the comments section will be more homogeneous because Nintendo relentless fans are so intense and defensive (probably even more than Sony fans). I think it's going to make both Nintendo Life and Push Square worse, this can only work in real multiplatform forums.
I think people should stop taking things so seriously.
Feel free to go to my comments list from my profile page and downvote any time you like. I'm sure we're all emotionally adjusted enough to be able to handle a few 'thumbs down's, aren't we?
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
It would be useful if moderators could see the real number.
Why? what purpous would that serve, not everyone is going to like what some people say, even on a regular basis, would you censor them or just take away their posting privileges because they have a lot of disliked posts ???
what if the posts may be disliked, but the person never actually broke any of the "Community Rules" ???
would it be right to shut them down because the judging moderator doesn't like the number ???
the whole thumbs down thing is bad enough, but having moderator access only, opens up a can of worms that can turn NASTY really quick

Because it would serve us as extra information when checking a reported comment...?
I mean, you should see the random stuff that gets reported. Having a metric of how many people dislike the comment would make it easier to determine if it is a valid concern or just another person reporting for reporting.
@antdickens lol, I’m glad I read this thread so now I know the downvote button conceals secrets not even the moderators are privy to 😆
I’m curious to see how it goes while we wait for ins and outs 😁
