According to the guy at my local Game store, yes you can - which is great, since Nintendo points cost more!

Oh you can? Shoot.. Wish I had known that a few days earlier.

And wait a second... Nintendo Points cost more than normal/the old Points Cards over there? O_o

that doesnt make any sense that Nintendo points would cost more than wii points. it definitely doesnt make sense, because wii points won't will not be made anymore after the release of Nintendo points.

According to GameStop and Amazon.com Nintendo Points are the same price as Wii Points. What I think has been going on is that since Nintendo Points have not come out yet the price has been higher to pre-order them.

I rule when it comes to games. So deal with it.

It doesn't make sense at all, and from the sounds of things, it's only happening over here.
On the Wii Shop Channel, 1000 points used to be available for £7.00, but now the prices have risen to £9.00 on the DSi! This pricing is also reflected in stores, with a 2000 points card retailing for £17.99 on popular entertainment website Play.com (same story over on amazon as well). Across the internet, the pricing seems to be really odd though, with 3000 points cards costing £30 (discounted price), whereas 2000 points cards are being sold at £18 - so anyone dumb enough to buy a 3000 point card has just been effectively robbed by Nintendo.

What's weirder is how Nintendo Points cards are nowhere to be seen. Play are still taking pre-orders (despite listing their release as yesterday), and amazon are stating that cards are either out of stock, or due to be dispatched in 1 - 2 months. I also went to two different Game stores, neither of which had any of the new points sent out to them, and the Game website isn't even listing them!

If Nintendo want people to take advantage of the Wii and DSi shop channels, they're certainly going the wrong way about it.

Wow - you found a Nintendo Points card? Kudos to you.

Also: Wii Points Cards definitely work on the DSi, since I bought a couple earlier today which works fine.

Proof that the DSi points are more expensive than the Wii: Screenshot
Despite this though, points are still in denominations of £7.00 on the Wii Shop :S

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

you can. It was sort of funny, because, I called gamestop to ask if they had any points cards. The guy said "a Nintendo DSi points card, or a Wii points card?" When I got there, they had nintendo points cards. For me, the price went down because apparently now you don't have to pay tax for them, so I save $1.99

Just let it happen.

My retailers only ever seem to carry 2000 point cards... XP

Round here in NA, there're only 2000 pointers. I just go online to get them usually, but then it's not the same as looking in my stocking to see my present!

@Starkiller I wish nintendo would make the different value points card here in the US.

Just let it happen.

Especially for when I want a 1000 point game on Wii, and still sopme games for DSi. I also wish that yous could have one single pool of points forboth DSi and Wii, but different value points cards would help that problem.

Just let it happen.

I'm glad to see they are starting to sell Nintendo points without the big plastic case. I went into Walmart last Saturday and bought a Nintendo points card and it was attached to a small cardboard piece on the back. It looked similar to an Itunes gift card. It looks more environmentally friendly.

In regards to different valued cards, it would be great if they added 1,000 point cards. I usually only get points for my DSi in 1,000 point chunks.

I just buy them from my credit card directly online. Wii Points and DSi Points are both 100=$1 over here. I don't think it really matters how you buy them, but there's no tax online at least, so I'm guessing that's the cheapest way, unless you find a deal somewhere. I've always seen 2000 pt. cards for $19.99. That sucks that in Europe they're different prices.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@Token Where I live [in kansas] there is no tax for points cards of any sort, at least at Gamestop there isn't.

Just let it happen.
