Dice, I just discovered the other day there is a homebrew app called Reveil Humain that lets you use an MP3 of your choosing as an alarm. Really surprised Nintendo hasn't thought to do this themselves.

How do you convert it?
It should be a simple matter of right clicking on the song in iTunes and clicking Create AAC Version. If AAC is not your default conversion, you can go to Edit--> Preferences, and under the General tab click on Import Settings and select AAC. (Note, this is with iTunes 8, I don't ever update to newer versions)
