Yeah, no offense to capcom, but it sounds like she's 30 years old....
Everyone else is pretty stellar though, am I the only one that feels this way?
It's not intolerably bad, but it's certainly NOT what I expected her to sound like. The delivery seems off, almost monotone....
Sorry capcom, but the Japanese voice actress for Maya sounds much better.

Still, she's miles ahead almost everything in Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies. I hated nearly every voice on that one; Athena's was especially jarring.

PL Vs. AA was stellar on the VA compartment all around, and I don't remember Maya sticking out for the worse, if not amazing either.

Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8

To be fair, it's not a question of bad or good voice acting, it's just the voice itself doesn't fit. As I stated Maya is what, 16 I believe? The voice actress in the english version makes her sound 30, and the Japanese voice actress(at least in the scene in the first trailer they showed) sounds a bit closer to what I pictured her sounding like. A decent job at best (compared to dual destinies at least, though I did like Apollo :3 ) but it's certainly not the worst delivery in the world, as I stated, it just sounds too....monotone-emotionless to be Maya, who seems to be characterized by changing her mood a lot. At the very least, it doesn't hurt my ears to listen to it either way.

Nick on the other hand sounds great, especially compared to Dual Destinies where he sounds a bit too young. I haven't finished the game yet (just bought it yesterday) but yes, what I've heard so far hasn't been a disappointment, sans my opinion on their castwork for maya.

Maya is at least 19.

Personally I think the voice fits fine

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I watched a few cutscenes from the game and I can sorta see where you're coming from, but I still think the voice is fine. Like @Teejay said, she's most likely 19 in the game and the short animated clips don't give a whole lot of moving space to pull off any outrageous mood changes.

After watching Video Games Awesome's playthrough of first three Phoenix Wright games I automatically hear Maya's voice in my head like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04sL8pj5qXU In just a minute you hear awesome voice acting for Phoenix, Maya and Pearls.

It's its, not it's.

The real tragedy in that game was that Americans had to listen to the squeaky voice of the British voice actor for Luke. Ugh.

???

I never found Luke's voice annoying. In fact I rather liked it. It's fun to imitate

Like I said, it's not bad per-say, it's just, not what I expected her to sound like, especially since she's 19 and certainly after hearing the japanese voice actress first. (I didn't play the full game in Japanese but I did watch the trailer) Again, even if the voiceacting is decent she still sounds like she's in her mid 30's. ^+^' This is my opinion at least, I wasn't trying to convince others to think the same way.

Then again, capcom is infamous for bad VA in some places, Megaman X series animated cutscenes anyone?
Jokes aside the voice acting is impressive compared to Dual Destinies, a little more how can I put this simply....passion I guess (Like the VA for Phoenix Wright in this game, and Layton too for example) in the next game would make a world of difference. Call it being picky if you want, but I can sort of tell when someone cares about the role and has a passion for their work. Nick doesn't sound quite like I expected him to either, but I can sort of feel that the voice actor is at least 'trying' ....

Preposterous! There are people on the face of this Earth who think the "this is what a 20 year old man with a really poor grasp of British accents thinks a boy would sound like" -voice is better!?

The other voice actor sounds like a chipmunk.

Moreover, that's the voice actor Americans have been exposed to for all the years the series has been out. It just feels outright alien to hear another voice coming out of the character in English.

Kinda off topic however I literally just got to this point in the game, and I'm not sure anyone recognized this immediately as it happened in game buuut....
Dat Ace Attorney 1 Case 4 reference yo! Also don't want to spoil it for people who haven't played it yet, but yes, it's there, and it's beautiful. ^+^
(Was seriously doubting it would happen, but I'm glad they made a reference to that witness :3 I'm glad Phoenix reacted the way he did too xD)

In regards to Luke's Voice acting, I've only played the first Layton Game in english so I don't really have a preference, however in the english version I do think that his voice for most if not all of the canon games is a little more tolerable, however at least he sounds his age and not some 20 year old brit on helium
