Topic: Should I exchange my 3DS XL?

Just picked up a 3DS XL a week or two ago, I've noticed that the speakers kinda crackle when there's high notes and the volume is up pretty much all the way. Is this normal or should I exchange for another one? I'd rather not exchange, as I'd have to deal with trying to get my stuff transferred over...

You could instead have it sent in to Nintendo for repairs if you have a warranty.

Currently playing: Smash Bros. 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles, Alpha Sapphire.
Attempting to guide nephew through Skyward Sword. He keeps getting stuck.

Select one:

-High-five me.

If you just bought it I'd suggest taking it back to the store, unless you've already been making eshop purchases. No need to send your new toy to Nintendo for a couple of weeks.

I've bought many 3DS XL's, and I'm familiar with this crackling sound.
It's most often caused by the 3D slider vibrating due to the sound production.

Just try to hold it with your finger and the sound distortion will go away.
It's a production flaw, return it immediately. You should not accept any flaw.

They really need to revise that transfer delay period of 7 days.
It's pointless and a nightmare if you notice a defect after you transferred essentially getting stuck for a week.

Yeah it seems to go away when holding down the slider. Is it worth returning or is it just gonna be like this again on the next one? I'm planning on picking up the new 3DS XL this spring and selling this one, should I just wait?

I've seen this on some 3DSXL's, so it's definitely not an isolated issue.
Me personally? I would return it.

Alright so I picked up a new one tonight so I could do a transfer before returning the original. Just finished the transfer and on Nintendos video it says to remove the SD card from the source system and put it in the target one to follow the on screen prompts. I didn't see any prompts though, my source system just restarted to the factory default intro and my target system went back to the menu, where my coins and steps were now displayed. I shut both down, took the sd card out of the original and put it in the new, now my games are showing up on the new systems menu and everything seems fine. I'm just worried I missed something, like I said, I never had to follow any prompts to get my SD card over, unless I missed it.
