The problem is I am not finding people on Mario Kart 7. I gave the 3Ds a static address when you mean local do you mean my connection type? It is dynamic.
it would be better to port forward with the wii since there are several known ports that nintendo games use. just look those up and insert all into the virtual server list and DMZ your 3DS

I had the same with the Wii, it doesn't work. According to the picture I put am I doing it right or am I missing something. I gave both the Wii and 3DS statics addresses and set them up like in the picture. The only thing that works is to put them in DMZ mode.
inbound and private should be same address, and you will want to make several entries one for each port you open. search on google or nintendo support for specific ports to open

Access your router's settings.
Find the "Port Forwarding" settings, which are often located in the section called "firewall," "security," or "applications and gaming."
When asked to enter a "name," enter "Wii."
For the starting port enter 1 and an end port of 65535.
Set to the "protocol" to TCP, UDP, or both.
Enter the IP address that you gave to the Wii earlier.
Select "Enable" or "Apply" to activate these settings and save the changes to the router.
Try the connection again.
Ugh, I remember needing to do this for a router I had but I gave up on it and got a new one. It's not worth the time and hassle, imo. Better to get a new router that's perfect for gaming. They're not that much expensive now.
Why would you want to use static IPs anyway? What model is your router?
Honestly, (since the Wii's early fiasco), I've had less trouble with my Nintendo devices than anything else on my network. (I'm using a Cisco/Linksys E1000 and, from 2006 to 2011, a Belkin wireless G router {couldn't find the Model #})
Last week I had to reconfigure the network (glares at new AT&T U-verse modem), but after resetting the router, all I had to do was set the SSID, encryption level, and security key to what they were before, and everything was Jim Dandy! I can also say (from experience) that, you can change routers and, as long as these three settings remain the same, your Nintendo devices will be none-the-wiser.
I have to put Static becomes for the DMZ it asks you for an IP and if it's not Static it will change eventually. I am using a Belkin
Whatever model it is.
try enabling all these 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443
make sure they are on seperate entries on your virtual server list, same port number on inbound and private ports
and make sure they all share your wii's ip address and the check box is checked on each one and you should be alright.
is you still have problems with specific games check online for known ports those games use or try to go wired with your wii (if you have problems connecting with people it is a NAT problem and you will need the same configuration even if wired)
