I know I'm not a forum poster, but like to comment on the news stories. Forgive me for "hijacking" your forum, but I need some advice. I tried Google but no-one else has mentioned this (probably because the console doesn't officially launch until tomorrow!)
I just got my New 3DS XL (Nintendo sent it early) but I have noticed that the gamecard slot is "sticky". The cartridge doesn't click in and out like my last 3DS, it can kind of get jammed half way. Thankfully it doesn't gst stuck, just needs an extra press to get it out.
I have no idea if this is by design or a flaw - has anyone else noticed this with their New XL? It's a very minor thing, so I'm not sure whether I should live with it or send it back to Nintendo as it could get worse. Don't want games getting stuck in there!
I have something similar with my japanese new 3ds (standard version). There seem to be something inside (foam-like thingy? not sure) which makes it harder to put gamecards in. Getting them out is no problem.
But other than that I've met with no problems in the past 4 months regarding games getting stuck/not being read or whatever, so I suppose it's meant to be like this?

That's exactly what it's like, a bit of foam stuck in it! Sounds like it's intentional, but let's wait and see if others get it.
Have to say it's pretty poor design. The card can get stuck too far in, and doesn't come out easy. Oh well. Not as if I spend my life changing cartridges.
I have figured it out - as the new model has a removeable back, which wraps around the slot, there is a bit of overlap of the removeable plastic over the slot. The card was getting "stuck" in that small overlap. It works fine when the back is removed.
Now that I know what it is, I can tell it's not going to be a problem. Could always sand it down if it was really bugging me!
Yeah, it's not a big deal now that I've figured out the reason. The cartridge is just getting stuck on the "ridge" of the slot (barely - you can hardly notice it). I was worried there was something wrong with the eject mechanism or something like that.
I think I have this too- does anyone else's make a scraping noise when they push it all the way in after the jam? Maybe it's just because I'm using an original DS Cartridge in the New 3DS XL...
EDIT: Tried a 3DS Game, still jams and scrapes... dayum. With this and the hinge problem, I'm starting to get a little worried!
