Apparently there's no thread for this. I guess that says something about how the 3DS is mostly dead now. But not with me! I'm still working my way through the many awesome games on this system.
So what's the deal with this? I've almost never played a Kirby game (like 20 minutes maybe) but this one has incredibly good reviews for the Wii version. What's it like? It looks very similar to Yoshi's Wooly World, which I liked a lot.
My 3DS also still sees frequent use. I fully expect to be kept busy with its joint DS and 3DS library for at least the next couple of years, and that's ignoring replays. XD
I'm mildly curious about this one as well. I've never played any of the yarn-based Nintendo games; I'm admittedly not horribly fond of playing as Yoshi, but I've never given the Kirby franchise a proper chance.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
My 3DS is not dead at all! Actually, my New Nintendo 3DS is a treasure and I have games for many years to come. I didn't get Kirby's Epic Yarn on Wii so I will get it on 3DS. It looks similar to Yoshi's Woolly World because the developer is the same. I liked Yoshi's Woolly World a lot, it's stylish and fun unlike other recent Yoshi games. The laid-back music is good too. Best Yoshi game since the original SNES one, available on SNES Classic for those that haven't played it (the GBA version is not the same).
@Octoguy True. They say that the challenge is collecting all items, right?
Now I only need the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI.
@Octoguy Sounds good, I already have many difficult games and I always wanted to try this one especially after playing Yoshi's Woolly World, that I recommend.
I didn't know anything about this particular studio. Turns out they make Epic Yarn, Woolly World and the upcoming Crafted World game.
So there's good reason to think Crafted World will be good then, as the studio has a good record of quality games.
They also made Wario Land The Shake Dimension which was one of the first hand-drawn platformers and a really good game, my favourite Wario Land game besides 1.
The devilish mode seems like a great way to replay this game! The new abilities and new minigames seem fun as well. This will be one of the last games I get for the 3DS... And to me, this feels like the last or one of the last batches of ports to the 3DS.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
I went ahead and bought this. I have to say it's not quite as good as some of the original game's reviews make out.
It's incredibly similar to Yoshi's Woolly World, and I think I substantially prefer that over this.
I picked up a copy, even though I also have the game on Wii. My some and I are planning to play through the Wii version together. He does not care so much about collecting everything. He just wants to get through the levels. Sometime later I will play the 3DS version and do the careful exploring and collecting that I prefer.
P.S. I will also be skipping the Switch because I have a massive backlog on 3DS and Vita to play through. My wife will only tolerate so much in the way of hoarding games. Hopefully I can catch up in time for the Switch 2!
