Topic: Is the 3DS Region Free?

I can probably find the answer online. However thought i'd come here for the usually quick response.

There are a few games i want, but haven't been released physically in the UK. Is it a waste of my time importing from the US / Japan. Would these cards work on my 3DS?

Unfortunately, the 3DS is region-locked. You'd have to buy systems from other regions if you wish to play their games.

@trinexx Do you know if it plays multi region Original DS carts? Like the DS was multi-region

@KevTastic84: Since the original DS games aren't region-locked, I believe that you'd be able to play DS carts from other regions (minus a handful of games like Guitar Hero: On Tour, since those required the second GBA slot on the original DS and DS Lite to play the game). Supposedly some DSi games may be region-locked, but those are few and far between.

I can confirm that any DS games will play on any 3DS. I have two UK and one US 3DS's that all happily play DS games from any region, without modding. As mentioned above, only specific region's 3DS games will play on that region's 3DS.
