To make a long story short I play the heck out of my original 3ds the one I bought when the 3ds launched in 2011. A good question is though when I transfer the data over to the ''New 3DS'' will I loose any save data from the games on my system both retail & download games? Not concerned about dsiware stopped downloading any dsiware games several years ago. Like I said I play ALOT & don't want to loose any data in any of my games most of my games are downloads. My other games I have in cartridge I'm not worried about because the save data stay's on the cartridge but this is the only thing that has me concerned when I upgrade... My aqua 3DS has taken a good beating from me lol the design's on the buttons are wearing off. I take good care of my game systems but play them to the extreme at times when really wrapped up in different games.

My aqua 3ds is also my on the go 3ds as well. Or should I leave my games on my aqua 3ds & still upgrade & just download the new games to the new 3ds?

Thanks in advance!

Happy Gaming! (^_^)

Your save files will be ok.

But you'll probably need to buy a micro SD Card of the right size and transfer all your files manually using a computer.

I think they're sold in the same sizes as normal SD cards.

Well, if you already use a micro sd card then you'll probably be alright.

To transfer data from a card to another via a computer you need to copy all the data from the source card and store it in your computer, then copy it to the new card.

Did you open the files or anything? I've only done a transfer from SD Card to SD Card, but it worked flawlessly. Did you follow the directions in the 3DS User Manual?

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Well sometimes the 3DS won't want to recognize the new SD card. Usually the best thing to do is allowing the 3DS for format the card and then trying again.

This is the issue with all Nintendo products actually. You need to allow the system to format the new card before transferring any data. That's how it's always been in my experience.
