Topic: Charging Cradle

Hi all - quick question...

I was going to leave my cradle plugged in all the time, and when I finish with my 3DS, was going to put it on the cradle so that it's always fully charged.

Is this ok? Or can it wear the battery out? Also when it's fully charged, does the cradle stop using power?

Concerned about leaving the cradle plugged in all the time. Thanks.

The 3DS battery was designed to be on all the time, so the type of battery used matches that accordingly. Having your 3DS charging all the time/ plugged in all the time will not wear down the 3DS battery or the charging cradle.

As for the cradle using power while plugged in, I'm sure any device uses up some amount of power while plugged in for extended amounts of time.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the cradle is still powered if the console isn't on it?

So even if the console has been played for half an hour, I can pop it back on it's cradle to fully charge and leave it there over night? I thought it was best not to do this?

Most people believe that the lithium-ion battery does best when constantly recharged.

I'm not one of those people. I let it run all the way down to the blinking red light then fully recharge it. Just preference. I've had it since launch day, and I haven't noticed any loss of battery life.

I've never used the charging cradle, but my 3DS has always been on the charger at all times while I've been at home since I got it on launch day.
Battery still seems to be going fine.

If you're concerned about your 3DS's battery life, I recommend looking into a Nyko Power Grip. I got one for $30 a few months ago, and while it makes your 3DS a lot thicker, it's definitely worth it. Just be sure not to confuse it with a similar looking and cheaper Nyko product, the Power Pak+. That one's a replacement 3DS battery with a longer battery life, but (from what I've read) installing it voids your warranty (something, based on your other threads you've been making recently, is something you're concerned about having in the first place).

Exactly.

Leaving any charger plugged in uses power. If you're not using it for an extended amount of time, I would advise unplugging it

Well my cradle will be on my gaming stand so most nights it will be placed on the cradle before bed. Is this ok to
1 - leave it charging overnight every night even after an hours use?
2 - to leave the cradle plugged it at all times? not sure the little thing would suck much power if not in use?
Just want reassurance really. Thanks.
