What are your thoughts on a 3DS XL
I think it'd be great for the new 3D film function that nintendo are thinking of doing (or ARE doing?) can you imagine being able to watch glasses-less 3D films from something you can carry round in your bag? what entertainment. Plus it would make the 3d that much more submersive in game play as well as movies

Certainly it's an obvious thing for Nintendo to do, but right now I'm sure Nintendo is more focused on the 3DS's launch and its upcoming titles than upgrading its brand-spanking new technology.

Exactly.

Give it 18-24 months.
But yeah very possible, with some surprising new features and new design, (an updated battery life a MUST)

I'd like to see better aesthetics. I know nintendo had alot to work on but DAMN, i think the 3ds is ugly compared to the dsi xl or dsi! i dont really mind, just would be nice.

Actually I don't have a problem with the design, or colors (maybe a couple more options but...whatever) I dig the metallic look, and I think it's great.
Now when/if a new design comes along I think it'll look even better, but no way is this as bad as the original DS.
But really I like it I like it.

No, its a freaking angelina jolie compared to the original DS, they've come far. But i love the simplistic look of the DSi and XL, they were sleek and smooth and great! but i think i'll have to get over myself xD

You're right though. I never owned a DSi or DSi XL, I had a DS Lite, but it was so simple looking.
Now compared to the 3DS of course, with all these new buttons, a 3D slider, omg are these MORE cameras!! ARGH TOO MUCH!!
haha j/k

But in all seriousness I think most of the people who are a little taken back will get used to it though over time.

I believe Nintendo have said there probably won't be an XL due to limitations with the 3D tech.

I'm sure we'll see a redesign eventually. I did love the XL as well and I do agree that the 3DS is a very ugly machine in comparasion, it's actually one of my few faults with it. Not a major one of course, but it does look a little tacky and it reminds me of the original phat DS in many ways. I get the feeling they've done this just so they can realize an improved, more stylish version down in a year or two. After the sleekness of the DSi and XL, it's hard to believe they really thought the 3DS design was just as good.

If we knew how small we were are problems wouldn't seem so BIG!

Having played the 3DS for a while now, I can't imagine it working on a much bigger screen. It's sooooo easy to lose the sweet spot. Maybe it's because I haven't played it much, but it seems like a small screen is essential to the 3D effect.

i would wait till CES for next intergration of the 3DS. many peoplen have been wanting duel analog sticks because they are left handed like me :/

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

A 3DS XL would be 1) very expensive, and 2) a massive battery hog.

Stop complaining and GO PLAY GAMES.

Most likely, an update would offer a thinner build, better resolution and battery life. However, this probably won't happen anytime soon, unless the PSP2 or IOS devices begin taking away some of Nintendo's market.

The resolution won't change, nothing would be able to take advantage of increased resolution because then it wouldn't be compatible on the existing 3DS...

Well actually, the technology used in the 3DS' screen is being used for TVs with 50 inch screens so a screen slightly bigger would only benefit the system.
