Topic: 3DS Microphone Issue Whilst Playing 'Spirit Tracks' With Headphones Engaged

I have had a problem with the microphone while playing the DS game "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks" on my 3DS. However, there is only a problem while headphones are jacked in. Without headphones the mic works fine, and you can lightly blow to use the Spirit Flute, et al. With headphones plugged in no amount or force of blowing would activate the mic feature. I have sent an e-mail to Nintendo about this but have yet to hear back (it's only been about a day hence, so). I tinkered around a little bit more and found that if I uttered a loud noise the Spirit Flute would work, yet, this kind of defeats the point of headphones now doesn't it? If anyone knows anything about this headphone/microphone 3DS/DS game issue, please let me know. Thanks!

WiiU MUST have another Baten Kaitos iteration, certainly!

The 3DS probably thinks that set of headphones has a microphone attachment on it, for some reason.

I had another problem with Zelda: Spirit Tracks when playing the flute... for some reason they designed the mike off-centre to the right on the 3DS which can be a bit awkward when wealding the stylus (in your right hand) and trying to blow into the mike. Doh!

I had the same problem with the flute. also the metal stylus slipped while doing the flute which made it hard to keep it on the screen.

It's just an empty pot...

I know this is a bit of an old post, though I just purchased Spirit Tracks for use on my 3DS and have been searching around for any possible issues. (perhaps I should search first.. )

At any rate, I just wanted to confirm that the headphones/mic issue is still present on the latest firmware. As luck would have it I use a pair of earbuds with a built-in mic and the 3DS does in fact switch over instead of using the standard one below the start button. I don't have the game yet, but tested both mic's from the main 3DS menu where a game logo/icon spins around when I blow into my headphone mic when plugged in.

It's a slight pain I suppose as I can't just bring the 3DS closer to my mouth when needed and may also require the mic to be secured to my shirt or something similar...

I'm curious: did you receive any response from Nintendo on the issue?
