Both games had serious balance and design issues, but botw was a simpler and more cohesive game despite the poor durability mechanic, painful cooking, and late game lack of feeling like you really got any stronger. totk failed to improve on any of those issues despite the promises, but then added a bunch of poorly thought out additions like the depths and annoying resource grind just to have enough to use the new building mechanic to get around the huge regions. While I enjoy both games for what they are, totk is just objectively messier and less tight and tidy.
