I don't think we will ever get a GOTY type Pokémon game because the vast majority of fans don't seem to care about much outside of the mechanic of being able to catch and collect Pokémon.I think they could sell millions of copies just on the legacy of the name alone and the fact that people will go out and buy 2 different versions of a half baked game is interesting to me . Not knocking anyone for enjoying these games but just a little disappointing that they push them out so fast without any concern for quality .
@Tott@Tott For me I think it was more about returning to Pokémon after playing such a polished game like TOTK. I never had any major bugs either during my entire playthrough but it was such a slog to get through because of the performance and just bad design decisions .The performance is confusing because the actual world is so barren too.The xenoblade games can drop to low resolutions but they are putting so much stuff into their environments . I agree that they need to either spend a good chunk of time making a proper 3d engine or go back to 2d top down. The pixel art of the older games look way better imo.
@stungun complete speculation but I think whatever proprietary engine they are using is just real bad. Also the development time is so short for a big game . I get tears of the kingdom was in development for 7 years but it’s kind of crazy that they are on the same low powered console .
@stungun This. It’s ok to enjoy the game while admitting it performs and looks real bad . I beat the entire game and didn’t experience a single crash but I can say that it’s for sure the worst performing AAA game I’ve played on switch . It’s frustrating because as you said it just doesn’t look good either lol.
@Cashews I agree . I think I would be more forgiving of the performance if the visuals were better . I finished the game but it felt like such a chore at times .
I really enjoyed the original ones paired with the oled but I play handheld mode 99% of the time. I don't mind the lack of rumble but I'm glad this new version is now more flush with the screen.
