One might want to remember that the last generation of "next-gen" consoles where revealed at shows touting "features" that never made it into the final consumer hardware or those features were soon removed with many hardware revisions.
I don't buy into rumors before an official press release nor do I buy into advertised features from the manufactures anymore. I wait until I see what is released then what happens to the hardware; like how high of a failure rate they have. RROD and YLOD ring a bell?
Then again, I buy consoles depending if they have a game that I can invest many hours into. Considering the 3DS is going to have a new Link to the Past game I shall play it and if it is indeed a good game I shall invest money into a 3DS.
I do not discriminate against consoles. Games are what I'm after and it doesn't matter what device delivers them. Even with the many features and specifications that are "in the air" per say, if a game comes out that I want on the new Microsoft and Sony consoles I shall purchase either or, but I also can wait a long time so they don't break my wallet. I'm in no hurry for the cat and mouse "next-gen" races and have plenty of games to play in the meantime.
I knew of Player's Guides, yet, why waste money on something that already cost way too much (I was poor) and ruin the gaming experience? I didn't need no stinkin' players guides.
This issue is not limited to games or how gamers depend on guides, faqs or cheat codes to actually complete a rather easy game (most games these days are really easy - and I never use faqs, cheats, guides, etc ...). This issue reflects society on a whole on how people expect things to be handed to them like an instant answer to getting stuck, wherever they may be in life or in the game on a silver platter. I purchased Super Metroid for the SNES when it reached my local game shop and beat it in around 40 hours with no help at all. It actually felt good to complete it and I enjoyed being "stuck" for hours then finally figuring it out "on my own".
It used to mean something to go to school to declare you beat a game and when asked "how" you just smiled. If you think you've beaten a game and had to ask for help, read a faq, used a guide book, etc ... you simply cheated. Grow a pair!
Most USA based Internet Service Providers have now capped your connection with an average limit of 250GB for 1.5 -> 80 Mbps. Between Skpe, VoiP, Video on Demand w/Full Movie downloads, PSN, XBOX Live, YouTube, Smart Phones, etc ... I cannot how how feasible it would be to download 19GB games with such limits. CenturyLink enabled a new bandwidth cap of 150GB on accounts and did not notify any of its users and will disconnect you once you break the cap. With the increase of caps from COX, Time Warner, AT&T, Ameritech, CenturyLink, etc ... I see no point in wasting precious bandwidth if you can purchase it at the store. When did your Unlimited Internet become LIMITED?

Re: Poll: Do You Follow and Watch Rival Console Reveals?
Rival Consoles? That's like back in the day when one argued if the Genesis was better then the SNES? Meh.
Games are what I'm after. I don't care what console they are one. If you've got at least 1 good game I want then I might as well buy the console.
I don't discriminate.
